I dropped an intake manifold bolt in my engine bay
And now I can't find it. Do I buy a new bolt or light the car on fire?
|
Speaking as someone who has done it, pull the manifold and check all the intake ports thoroughly. If it’s not in the cylinder head, buy a bolt and move on. I lost one, didn’t pull the manifold, and took out an injector luckily. It could’ve been worse.

I tried checking in the intake ports. It's tough to see. Pretty sure it isn't in there.

Randomly poke around with a magnet lol I've done that before
|
Tried that. I used my fingers, magnet, a flashlight. I even had my wife look.
Car is going on fire. |
I found it. It was wedged between the bottom of the fan shroud and the radiator. I couldn't get my fat fingers in there so I had to get my wife to grab it with the magnet while I lifted the radiator up and it fell down.
The car won't be lit on fire after all. |
I mean fire is always an option.....
|
I'd like to watch said fire.
|
It almost happened. Working on cars is stupid.

i havea complete set of stock manifold bolts if you need. I upgraded to ARP bolts bc i hate money.

Should proactively delete this thread for insurance reasons.

Here I am, late to the party, was going to ask if the car was a manual and if I could have the transmission, console and pedal assembly before said fire.
Glad you found it, though! |
