Some vette owners are okay in my book...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=82
What a funny story. That Jesse (aka Ski_down_it) is a complete moron. He's blown up a couple members engines, his engine, and Paul's 1st motor. I've read some of those threads and it makes me feel good all over. All these "mail order tuners" competing against each other and then there's kvu, a guy that isn't all that knowledgable but at least knows that a tune should be done hands on. These guys just have too much money and not enough time... proof is where there are threads popping up where they're comparing different mail order tunes against each other. Oh, and Jesse's chip came in last... again, hahaha what a **** up. |
Vettes are crap!

Some vette owners might be nice.....
Last one I came across was an ASS! http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533084 I made him my b*tch though  |

the time it really cracks me up is bracket racing. when it is time to dial up who gives a flyin f--- which car can et better, it is about hitting teh number.
if anyone wants to see 50 guys who don't know **** and about 5 who do you should see the corvette challenge at etown. it is like they collected up every smacker with an hour or less drive to the track and let the polish each others egos for a day. pathetic. i know there are some cool vette owners out there, but unfortunately the didn't get laid until after college, mid-life crisis, little dick, ego padding needed crowd seems to make up the vastly larger majority. later tim |

Your statement about mail order tunes I feel is generic and uneducated. Don't take offense to that please, it's just how I feel. I've personally worked with Alvin and Bryan, the two PCMForLess guys, and their mail order tunes are probably some of the closest to optimal tunes you'll ever find. Both of them have gigantic databases of files with all sorts of combinations they've done in the past, and many of those are dyno tunes that they've done in person. Heck, I personally watched Alvin upload a baseline tune into a CC306/stock head car just a few weeks ago, and make ONE dyno pull. It was spot on. Made 2 more pulls to be sure. No changes. Even when I had my head/cam package put on my car two summers ago, the tune was almost nailed on the first shot. Just needed about 3% fuel up top. If that's not well worth it compared to paying the $500 it would cost around here for a dyno tune, then I don't know what is. Your implication that a mail order tune is crap is unfounded. Granted a dyno tune you would be able to eek every last bit of HP out of the car, but 9 times out of 10 it's not going to be much. I guess my point is that these guys (that I'm speaking of at least) have been doing this for a LONG time and aren't just coming up with changes on the fly for each tune request that comes in. |
I run a mail order tune.
My mail order tune works PERFECT! I don't think anyone can dispute it w/ my times ;) |

I guess I don't think you're opinion of me is very well founded :P . Oh, and do you know how large my database is? No, and want to know why that's just a bunch of BS, because ever car is different, even the one's that were copied have differences that can't be seen (quality control). JFYI, my "tuning" directory is 250mb and I won't even tell you how many directories I have. I know I shouldn't be bashing these guys because they are my competition and it doesn't look good but for christ's sake, a dyno tune being "optimal", HAHAHA, who ever thinks that is out in left field. Not to brag but I was just called out so I guess I should shove in some more leverage, I've tuned on water brakes, eddy currents, double rollers, single rollers (interial), AND dc electric dynomometers in the past 3 years. I'm by no means an expert but I know who is and people doing mail order are NOT (from the people I've met) experts in the field of tuning. They're just opportunists. The experts work for REAL companies that are trusted by GM, Ford, Honda and the like to do their real tuning. I'll listen to those guys and the guys that aren't oppertunists like my friends in the DIY world that have nothing to gain except respect through knowledge. |

think about it james, if your tuning is so great why is it that a similar weight car with fewer mods can run you so bad? it is because you are only basing how "perfect" the tune is on the fact that you see improvements over older tunes. that doesn't mean it is perfect, it just means it sucks less. spend a little time with foff667 or fasterthanyou tuning your car and you will see huge gains over your mail away tune. later tim |
4:10's = craig 13.7
3:23's = james 13.9 4500 launch craig w/ 4:10's 2500 launch james w/ 4:10's My timing = stock due to nitrous car Craig timing.... well, I don't know but I think it might be advanced more than mine ;) M5 = less power lost through drivetrain = craig A4 = more power lost through drivetrain = james Weight on cars..... Very close If I could launch as high as craig would (with my 4:10's)... i think I might be a bit quicker Â*;) That's ok though...... soon I'll be launching VERY close to Craig's launch rpm Â*;) If I had an N/A car... I would not have ported the heads and upper/ lower intake.... I would have left them stock just like craig. Hee hee, time shall tell... I'll be back soon racing Â* 8) |

I don't want to be out cruising with my N/A tune, roll up next to someone and not be able to spray them because of my N/A tune. I don't have the ability to keep lap top handy and switch back and forth between tunes. If I could, I def would! Craig, I'm gettin better slowly....... soon..... soon ;) |
not a big fan of dynos its not real world and well i got beat bigtime when i first had my 98 tuned up at cartek. If someone wants to think a dynotune is the end all be all in tuning your very wrong. As far as James goes when he ran 99mph that was on stock timing, manual transmissions vs. auto's isnt really a fair comparison everyone knows this...thats like saying if an automatic ls1 guy could launch from 6500 like some of the m6 guys launch from they'd be cutting .9 60's lol they are very different. Also remember craig still hasnt tuned his fueling one iota so im sure theres still a couple of tenths left in his car. My offer of tuning still stands for your car once your back in action :)
