i guess so but what he is demostrating

Ian 04-24-2005 11:37 AM

he is demonstarting that when you add lucas to oil, it makes it foam up easier. oil aeration is the devil!

Koll 04-24-2005 01:27 PM

Yeah. This is rather old. But yes, lucas = devil.

people have there own oppinions, persoanlly i wont put anything but AMSOIL in my trans am, becuase it his hands down the best oil. but in my thunderbird i add about 1/2 a bottle of lucas and it consumes alot less oil. and runs smoother

Ian 04-24-2005 04:07 PM

I've never heard anything bad about lucas until now. I do know that AMSOIL is the best oil out there though. I've seen dyno tests that prove it.

you mean that info-mercial was lying? OMG my world is shattered. teh guy in teh bill cosby sweater told me it was an amazing break through in technology. lol
lucas does make a lot of noises much quiter if you are trying to sell a ****** car though :)

I see 2 problems in that test. 1st is the fact that he adds the additive but doesn't keep the same volume... he's added more volume putting more teeth in the oil and at a sharper angle (more air introduced). 2nd is the suggestion of air in the oil. I'd like to see exactly how MUCH air is in the oil. He could simply take the oil and try and compress it, air compresses easily, oil doesn't and would tell you how much "air" is in the suspension.
Very cool device though and I'm not defending either side. I know what oil I use and why, it's never failed me and it's cheap so I'm sticking with it until I need to change :) . My next motor is going to be all Amsoil if that tells you anything. It doesn't cost more when you don't have to change it 3 times as often. Theoretically Amsoil saves you money if you string out their claim to the 25k mile change interval.

yup its awesome, becuase my trans am used to drink mobil one 5w30 and 10w30.... i then started using amsoil high performance 10w40 and its perfect, it barely uses any oil. you can really tell the quality and it doesnt thin out like royal purple and the mobil oils

Ian 04-24-2005 10:47 PM

yeah, the comparison I read basicly came down to royal purple and AMSOIL. needless to say, AMSOIL blew royal purple out of the water. 8)
