That meeting was already held back in August. Read the actual petition that you're signing lol.

Anyhow, the meeting went over, there were 100s of racers that showed up, and essentially the meeting got out of hand. The proposal was dropped for now as well. The biggest issue that was arisen with this was that the Motor Vehicle Racetrack Exemption from the Noise Control Act of 1971 is not a LOCAL municipality thing, its on a STATE level. You can probably see where i'm going with this. If something were to pass to remove this exemption at raceway park, it would affect Island and Atco as well. They could NOT directly shut down the tracks, however, in essense it would be because we would no longer be exempt from the noise control act and people would go race else where.

ohh snap, i thought it was augest this year... well thx for clearing that up...

the threat of that action several years ago is what started a lot fo the tracks actually enforcing the 90db rules. that noise level is actually legislated as the federal legal highway limit and it is the noise limit for nhra stock class racing(at tracks that bother to enforce it  )
none of this woudl stop legal racing, jsut send a few people who only bought their exhaust based on making the most noise possible to tracks in more rural areas that don't enforce db rules.

I only care that E-town stay's open so that the rest of the real drag racers tracks don't get too crowded.
