security problem

ok, sometimes when i go to turn on my car i will turn the key completly and security will come on on the dash. and the car wont start at all. i then have to wait for about 5 min everytime that happnes for it to go off so i can start the car and sometimes it happens more then once like 2-3 times. its prob the most frustrating thing in the world. does anyone know y or have the same problem.. i have keyless entry and its a 93 z28

if you have the "chipped" key if it gets wet sometimes it wont work...otheriwse maybe your chip is going bad...have you tried to just use your spare key?

That's happend to me twice over the last two years. I waited a few minutes each time and after the light went out, it started.

it's the VATS system, either your key's pellet is going bad and losing its charge, the wiring inside the steering column and lock cylinder is damaged, or there's a short somewhere. There are other possibilities of course but those are the main things.
