Removing TV cable and cruise control

Complete nOOb fooling around with an engine.

Several resources say to use needle nose plyers when removing the throttle cable and cruise control. Looking at the cabling, where do I begin? Looks like there is a "C" clip holding the cable to the throttle valve. Just yank that off and slide the cable off the TV?

What about the cruise control? Whats the trick to removing that?

I have an 88 TA with 305 TBI.

Thanks.
