Dam you A/C

Now for the 3rd summer in a row I am going without A/C. The first time the T/A didnt have a charged A/C, then the Second time the T/A had no A/C system, and now for the 3rd time my Camaro has a broken A/C condensor. I am seriously contemplating removing or replacing the A/C pulley. This is BS, I dropped the car off at a garage down the street to have them charge it, but apperently their is a leak in the system and it looses its charge, and they said it would cost me $500. ***** THAT! $500 for headers, headwork, or even a cam outweigh a working A/C

p.s before people say (tim, craig, james) that A/C is from the begning is for suckers and you dont need it to race. My car is a True Daily Driver!!! After work the black interior is scorching I need every little drop of working A/C to cool it down.

Jersey_TA 06-30-2005 04:18 PM

That sucks man.

I tinted my windows and it helped out a TON to keep the heat out.

enRo 06-30-2005 04:41 PM

Yes, or just wire up a Cyclone fan below your steering wheel and have it face you. The T-tops help in NON humid days, but yes I can vouche that tinting helps. My mom's van windows are tinted and its nice and cool in there even without the AC

JerzLT1 06-30-2005 08:08 PM

yeah condensor is like... way to much money. just did one on my V6..... just remove it lol

foff667 06-30-2005 08:10 PM

ive still got mine off the Z...if you want it its yours.

1RawTA 06-30-2005 08:34 PM

welcome to the club... atleast your car isnt black on black :(

skorpion317 06-30-2005 09:47 PM

alex if you want i can change out the condensor, and help fix that leak in the system. it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than taking it to a shop. i'll charge the system, too.

NLinnear 06-30-2005 11:19 PM

I'm getting my AC fixed now. A black on black car with headers heating up the floorboards is not cool...no pun intended :(

79dizZy28 07-01-2005 12:36 AM

you know what's worse than not having any a/c???

having your heater still spitting out heat at you in the middle of summer. i gotta get around to disconnecting it one of these days

I know how you feel.

Who uses AC? I just open the windows and it's fine in my 4Runner. I haven't turned on the AC in my house or my 4Runner yet this year. We never used the AC in the house last year at all either. AC is for wimps. :gay:

BigAls87Z28 07-01-2005 11:45 AM

Just buy an AC condencer, and get some R134a, do it yourself.

I agree. Although AC in Arizona isn't for wimps... it's for people that don't want to die in their sleep from dehydration.

How about having sweat stains on your shirt from driving. The ladies really love that...

Why would you be sweating with the windows open and air flowing through the vehicle?

Because when it's 100% humidity and 100 deg, no amount of flowing air will keep you from sweating.

Without the AC my room would be a sauna. I also drive in my car all day for work, and if I didn't have AC I'd get out looking like I was just in a pool...not a good thing when visiting clients. I have had to go without the AC for an hour driving around the city, and it was horrible, especially since the city is stop and go and arely do you get enough airflow to even try to cool you off.

I've been driving for 22+ years and I've probably only needed to use the AC 25-50 times at the most. I hate to say it, but the youth of today is so overpampered and spoiled that they expect perfect conditions all the time. You can't find a sinlge kid outside playing in my neighborhood in the summer. They all have to be inside in the AC playing video games. My friend stopped over with his son last week and he kept crying about going back in to the AC. We don't run the AC in our house so he was out of luck. We used to play outside until 10 pm in the summer when we were kids. Sorry for the speach, but this country is spoiled and needs to toughen up.

Well... since all of the cars I've owned did not have/had A/C... and my house being over 100 years old with no A/C, I guess this does not apply to me. My A/C is a Hampton Bay fan and a huge custom airplane fan to exhaust the hot air out of my house. :-/

NJSPEEDER 07-02-2005 12:35 PM

my alero is the first car with a good workin a/c i have had. i am not a fan of air conditioning really. not that i am a warm weather person, just that fresh air seems better to me regardless of the temp outside.

later

I love AC. I played outside when I was a kid too, but I still love AC. Now that we have it at work, customers dont complain as much, and I can sit in my boss's office, at 70*, and just search the web.....ahhh the life.
