It's ugly....

What does it weigh?

Turbo/ supercharger option? Damn.... gonna be a quick f*cker!

GP99GT 11-07-2005 01:53 PM

stock curb weight with the 4 cyl is 2860 lbs...is the Ecotec an iron block or aluminum? if its iron, i cant imagine the LS2 weighing too much more, maybe 100-200lbs or so.

12secondv6 11-07-2005 01:54 PM

So..... prob 3100 +- pounds

Poor C6 owner's

GP99GT 11-07-2005 01:56 PM

well the ecotec is aluminum too...so...probably 3200 or so, i cant imagine it being heavier than my car at 3380

enRo 11-07-2005 01:59 PM

Looks like it says "Mullet" :-D

I like the looks. If GM doesnt straighten their act up with a new F-body, my next car is gonna be a Solstice.

ok, so lemme see now... buy car for 18k. check.
get mods for 18k. check.
still be thousands less than corvette or cts-v or GTO. check.
blow the doors off of anything on wheels. check.

here's an order form for those that simply cannot wait to get the ball rolling. btw, a 60% deposit is required to start your conversion and you have to drop the car off to them (much like calloway and lingenfelter) and either pick it up or provide for pickup.

this reminds me of the company that used to do conversions on the mazda miata. they were way over the top, too, tubbing and stretching the rear wheel wells in order to get more rubber under the back of the car...

if those curb weights are correct it would basically run with a stock ls2 vette so it wont really blow the doors off anything on wheels...it would probably be a high 12 second or low 13 second traction limited car.

NJSPEEDER 11-08-2005 04:33 PM

with such a short wheel base i dunno how easy it woudl be to even get it off the line for a low 13second pass. i bet it would still be the best smoke show for under $40k. lol
according to shipping weight the LS2 is about 160lbs heavier than the ecotec. that uts it right around 3000lbs. with 400hp that would mean only 7.5lbs per hp. that has got to be up there with some of the best power to weights going. :)

why you gotta piss on my wheaties? i was having so much fun with that, and you gotta pick it apart.

still, thousands less than a 'vette. for about the same performance? too good to be true.

BigAls87Z28 11-09-2005 07:20 AM

Its about 300lbs lighter then a C6. While this is cool and everything, Id still spend the extra cash and get a C6.

jims69camaro 11-09-2005 09:36 AM

i'm probably going to go with a turbo version, when it comes out. unless Chevy does something miraculous...

BigAls87Z28 11-09-2005 01:44 PM

I always belive in miracles....

NJSPEEDER 11-09-2005 03:56 PM

with the prices so similar it woudl be a tough call. i think i would end up with the solstice though, it is much more unique than a vette and certainly less stereotypical.

i'm wondering about those stereotypes, tho... this could easily fall between the cracks of what is considered a chick car and a true enthusiast's vehicle.

the turbo will make all the difference, i think.
