good tranny shop in central jersey
does anyone know of a good tranny shop in central jersey that is reasonable in their prices. i'm asking because for the past few weeks it feels like my tranny is slipping around red-line on a 2-3 shift. it doesn't happen all the times but it is happening. i took it to aamco and they scanned it and said it is slipping. They want $425 to pull it and find the problem. that money is refundable if i have it rebuilt there. a rebuild with just the "soft parts" is $1250. I'm not in a rush because i don't really drive the car in the winter and it drives fine as long as i don't push it, plus it doesn't happen that much, but eventually it will need to be taken care of (maybe this spring or summer). so if you guys know of any places let me know.

is it an auto trans? I'm assuming so because if it was manual the only thing that can slip is the clutch.

DYNOTECH! DYNOTECH! DYNOTECH!
www.dynotechperformance.com Eric Schertz is DA TRANNY MAN! He has hooked me up with my last few trannies, including my state if the art, full manual shift 200R-4 in my AMX. He is a great guy to deal with, won't B.S ya, and will build ya whatever ya want. Tell 'em unstable bob gable sent ya, and it is quite possible that I could even show up at the shop when ya wanna bring your car down. But to do that I must be fed...lol |
badz's pops is Ziggy, i heard they know a few things about transmissions
|
they dont mess with electronically controlled ones though :(

I took ( had my car towed) to cottman transmisions In metuchen, they were verry cool I said that I would like to do a t-5 swap but they took the time to explain to me that they couldnt do it to my vehicle. They then called me back the next day and My mom drove me up there and they were showing me the parts of the transmision ( it was awsome) I have to say A+ with people skills especially for sitting there and showing a 14 year old parts of a transmision but Im not sure about price and I am still waiting to pick my car up ( ehh its gonna snow any way rather have it done right) but If you allready have your car at a place stick with them but ask for second opinions ( cottman got me too with the looking at it and taking it out of the car part)

thanks for all the help, i'll definately look into those ideas, i've had work done at another cottman in easton pa just over the bridge from p'burg and they were ok. i was hoping to also get a 3000stall put in and a shift kit with the rebuild.

bob how are dynotech's prices?
|
Dynotech can build a 4L60E with the best of 'em.
And as far as "pricing" goes...well, ya get what ya pay for in this world. Is Dynotech cheap? No. Is Dynotech competitive? Yes. Does Dynotech give awesome customer service before, during, and after the sale? HELL YEAH! Nothing against the "chain" transmission places, but I'd rather deal with a place where the owner is the guy cracking my tranny open. That way there is no one else to answer for the work. Eric is friggin' awesome...I can tell many stories, but here is one for ya: I couldn't get my friggin' T-Type to start. I was pretty sure something was FUBAR in my computer, but didn't know how to check things. I went to pick Eric's brain, and he stopped what he was doing to listen to me. He then loaned me one of his "test" computers and "test" chips, and told me to install them and see waht happens. I installed his computer, and the car fired right up! I took his computer back ASAP, and asked him what I owed him. He said "Nada!" He didn't even want me to buy him lunch. He said he was happy to be able top help me out. So, needless to say, Dynotech is tops in my book! :) |
Still waiting for a reply from them on the cost for a 4l60e build
