I guess I'm out of the game indefinately

well as many of you guys know, i haven't been attending the meets nor have i been posting as much as i used to. this is due to the fact that i've been very busy applying to medical school and trying to get my grades up so i can attend. i finished my bs in psych in may, but i'm not happy with it. my parents gave me an opportunty to go to med school, only problem....it;s in the phillippines. yeah sucks major ask doesn't it.
many of you wonder why there and not here. its mainly due to finance. a semester of med school there is about 2k a semester. that's cheaper than bergen.
so i guess for the next four years, no more modding the car. no more drving the car no more seeing my pretty face .....j/k. I'll probably end up garaging the camaro for the next four years.
so many of you guys wonder when i'm leaving, i'm leaving the 1st week of june. also you guys are probably going to wonder what i'm going to be driving. well i have three cars i have in mind already. an ek civic type r, a r33 skyline or an lt1 camaro.....yes they do have it there. probably gonna lean towards the r33 cause i always wanted to drive one. hey maybe after i'm done with school there, i can ship it over here. shipping a car to the us from the phillippines would cost about 10k.

however, i did get one cool thing from the phillippines that i brought home

Good luck man!

I would defenitly want to visit the Phillipines, but Im just alittle scared of the muslim extremeists they have running around their kidnapping americans. Not my idea of a good vacation!

JPiZZiJP 12-15-2005 02:12 PM

I don't know who you talked to about getting a car shipped for $10K... shipping a car from the east back to the states should only cost you between $3K - $6K from my sources. If you ever need help in finding a cheaper (and safe) alternative to shipping your car, feel free to contact me and I'll make some calls for you.

Is the medical school in the Philipines up to par with the med school in the US? I'm not being a wise ass, I'm just curious, because we have so many of them, and yes, rediculously expensive, but the best technology. Will your doctorate be easily transferred to the US?

If the amount of nurses coming into the US and Canada from there is any indication, then yes. I deal with them every day at work since they are required to pass an English speaking test (www.tse.org) as part of their licensing process here.

all med school does is prepare you for the boards. a more difficult school would be to your benefit in the end. and usually foriegn schools are lightyears ahead of american schools.

Tsar 12-15-2005 10:22 PM

um...i've seen plenty of doctors from different countries, so my guess would be its all good.

bad64chevelle 12-15-2005 10:24 PM

SO that means that we still need to have the orange cars both at the grease trucks on the same night sooner than we expected I guess.

he's right. all i need to do is pass the courses offered, than i can take the board here. both my parents did it. so i think i can. also, the school there is a little more stricter. it's almost like going to high school all over again. class starts at 9 and ends at 5. no night classes or weekend classes. the big difference with kids who go to college here and in the phillippihnes is that many college students also have jobs. in the phillippines, they don't get jobs until they are done with school. too many distractions here for me.
in all honestly, i don't know exactly where the schools in the phillppines rank, but i know it's one of the best in cebu and my dad has many classmates all over the US practicing. so it must be decent

btw, if you ever go to the phillippines, just go to the big cities because they all know how to speak english. it's kinda strange but hey, at least you can understand them.

as far as vactioning there, all you just need to be careful and know where to go don't go to the ghetto and watch out for your belongings. the part i'm going to aren't muslim extremiast, most are catholic.

also, from what i hear, if you are a us citizen, all the girls will be all over you. sounds shallow, but i heard this from many people, even the dean at one of the colleges. also, everything is relatively cheap there. taxi rides are the most $2, dinner will probably cost you $10 for a whole family, and expensive hookers will probably cost you know more than $30.... don't ask me how i know

the big ornage tank will make an appearance, not in tip top shape but running. i won't do anything crazy until i get back :P
