Decent Combo / Will it work?
Ok, 2 part question. First off, will this setup work. IE No problems bolting right up.
Second part. Car is a 91 Trans Am Vert with 350 TPI From 89. Stock except for Exhaust and a custom chip. Parts : Cam : "XFI" 292 Hydraulic Roller Camshaft Lift: .584"/.579" w/1.6 Rockers Duration: 292°/300° Intake : LT1 converted intake from LT1intake.com Heads :SBC Pro Series Aluminum Cylinder Heads The heads are the biggest problem. They are 23*. Stock is 18 if I remember. Am I going to run into a problem? |
not a healthy or cost effective combo.
converted LT1 intakes are a waste of cash, convert a single plain carb intake and get twice teh gain. that cam is also large my huge, unless you plan to shift your stock bottom end at 7K i would recomend against it, the pro series heads are ok, but your bottom end won't handle a cam to support them anyway so it doesn't really matter. |

23* is the stock valve angle on a SBC. I wouldnt buy those heads either - I wouldnt trust a no-name aluminum head you find off ebay plus the 210cc is too big. Look into Canfield... Competition Motorsports sells Canfield 195's for $1050 complete shipped to your door. Cam is too big too...
Sounds like a recipe for slowness |
the engine will run, so technically it will "work"
the cam is too big, I agree there. The converted LT1 intake isnt really a waste of money as its better than the TPI setup by leaps and bounds. And I'd look into Bowtie vortec heads. they make aluminum ones now I think 8) |
