sidenote...why do they always crush the sports cars instead of clearing out the useless crap first, such as the old oldsmobiles and cars of the like? It's crap.

because the sports cars are most likely stolen and have had the motor/trans removed or something. can't ID a crushed car...

Apache are where my junk cars go, and those are all untraceable bare shells usually. My tow driver told me about those vettes, but also told me how they will not sell the cars as is, only parts off it, and they wanted $600 for a 95 blazer front clip(new aftermarket parts are like 500).

you do know they started imprinting the vin number on the body panels back in the '80s, right?

some guy i know called me one time and said he needed my help. it seems a blood-relation of his boosted a car for the motor/trans, and they needed to make it go away. (he never did get the motor and he gave the car (that needed the motor) to the guy a while afterward - brilliant!) so i get there and it's a mint condition (less than 2000 miles on it) Z28, early '80s car with a solid roof and black and gold paint. i did what he asked, we made it go away with an OA cutting torch, and then i went home. and cried myself to sleep.

then, come to find out, a short while later, he comes across two clean titles for camaros... it took about six months for me to recover.
