OneFast383 01-18-2006 06:16 AM

u see that 1954 concept car they had last year that went for 3 million?

trashman01 01-18-2006 07:16 AM

they have the pontiac version this year of that concept. also any1 see the GTX Hemi Clone? nice car and i liked the paint it had

JL8Jeff 01-18-2006 07:31 AM

The BJ auction is slowly turning into the custom car, street rod and clone auction. They have a bunch of junk this year. The real, original musclecars are at the Russo Steele auction this weekend in AZ. But the R&S auction isn't on tv so we're stuck watching the BJ auction.

bad64chevelle 01-18-2006 09:52 AM

So if it isnt stock its junk?

BigAls87Z28 01-18-2006 10:05 AM

yep!
There are a lot more resto-mods there now, and I think thats cool. As much as I love to see a 69 Yenko with 110 miles on the clock, I actualy like to see cars that could be driven, and look good, and it doesnt have to sit in a showroom. There was a killer gray 65 Corvette vert with what I belive was a C5 parts, and an LS1. It was sweet as hell!! Gotta love the g-Machine/Pro-Touring look.

Nope, I didn't say that. I love a custom or resto mod just as much as an original. But a lot of the cars at BJ truly are lousy. That's why they're there. They can't sell them any other way. Get the bidders a little drunk and TADA, you just bought a fake SS396! I've seen quite a few fakes and clones and I know a bunch of guys that are there right now. There are a couple of exceptional cars, but for the most part they're "auction prepped" cars.

bad64chevelle 01-18-2006 11:11 AM

Sorry Jeff I misunderstood that statement. I would agree with that there are alot of fake cars being sold on there, just as there are all over the place. I have not gotten to see this years auction yet, but maybe ill catch some of it later on this week. Once again I apologize for my statement.

the reason that those cars are there is because u have some of the richest car collectors in the world gathered at one time. if u got 3 million to drop on a car..... u got some serious cash

OneFast383 01-18-2006 03:47 PM

turbo96z28 01-18-2006 06:29 PM

for those that missed it:

87 Grand National, totally stock with 16,000 miles, just sold in the mid $30,000 range.

dammit i wish i was there :banghead:

i dunno about the BJ auction..i guess its ok, but too many people base the value of their own vehicle on what the auction brings. They think their rust bucklet is worth thousands when it really isnt. if a lot of people were bidding on a car, ok so that may get a better idea of the value, but if only 2 people are bidding on a car and it goes up 10's or 100's of thousands then its plain stupid, right there it just comes down to which of the 2 guys has more money and wants the car more, value has nothing to do with it at that point IMO.
