Fixed the alt and pass inspection...wont be having headers or cam installed (so no dyno) but since Im not going to be pissing away close to $900 (in leighbor) on the 305 Im gonna get a block and start doing research on set ups and parts I think its gonna be a 400 CI motor cause Ive been noticing alot of people have them around here and some one (no names) runs some real low tens with his motor and If I can get mid 10's WHOO! lol |

Word of advice - play with the 305 for a while before you start thinking of picking up a 400 block. - Justin |
low 10's is not on a budget 400, 900 wont cover much at all, maybe valvetrain. it takes a close amout of money invested in that motor to make similar built motors(ie 355, 383) to run 10's as well, also chevy 400 or pontiac? thers ALOT to learn about engines before you up and decide a swap liek this. If you want a bigger engine really, do a 350, common swap, cheapest parts, thats what id recommend IMO.
btw, leighbor = Labor |

yeah, 400 is definitely not the cheap way out. another vote for messing with what you have before you jump in the deep end of the pool.
a nice rebuild on your 305 would be one way to go... you could learn what blueprinting and balancing means. |
