About to leave...
To pick up my new rear :-D 4.10 time bitches ;)
I'm thinking for the install... I have break march 12-18, so sometime that week. Options are Ewing or at my house... I'm sorta leaning towards my house in case of unforseen obstacles I'd rather have my car stranded in my own driveway than an hour and a half away  |
so basically you need me to buy mine by then :).
if you do it in ewing and run into obsticals, we all probably have enough parts laying around to keep it from being stranded |
Yes basically
I figured that... but then I said know what better leave two options open then see what the Ewing crew has to say |
i should be ready to order everything by then (read if tim hurries up with the suspension)
|
Cool beans Kasey...have fun in New Hope ;)

Goin there... 4 to parkway to 80 to 287 to 202... took about 2 hours.
Coming back... took 202 to 287 south cuz it said turnpiek that way... said screw this cuz I saw an exit for easton ave / new brunswick... cut thru there to 18 to the turnpike... took 1 hr 20 mins. Justin I wasn't looking for any of... that stuff... and didnt find any thankfully  So yea... there's around 5k miles on the 4.10s and the Eaton (gear-type). I figure I have some time now to sand it down and rust-proof/paint it. One thing I thought of... when I hear about getting the axle tubes welded is that basically just making a weld around the seam there they connect to the pumpkin? Or is it something more complicated/in depth. I figure, I'm getting this rear, pretty new parts, and getting the T/A girdle to put on it... so why not beef it up a little more just in case. |
Glad you didn't find any Kasey.
4.10s FTW!!! - Justin |
I gotta say tho I got scared as I was coming down 202... the sign that said to the toll bridge / PENNSYLVANIA almost made me cry... and once I flew back over that to "Welcome to New Jersey" I felt much relieved
|
PA's not THAT scary.. just some strange folk.
|
Got that rear from Bill?

Alex: yes I did, he said hi and that he'll come up here and cruise sometime, haha
Ian: OK I figured it was something crazy like that, sounds like that could easily drain my bank account so I probably will not be doin that. |

My ski crew used to turn heads rolling down main street. A 1968 Plymouth Fury III 'vert, fully restored, towing a '91 Mastercraft ProStar 190 red & white ski boat. It was pretty cool. - Justin |
i guess i'm so used to going up there, i don't really pay attention to anything any more.....
that and most of the time we go, we hit Lion's Den 2 then cruise over to a bar for drinks. |
OK I just had a realization.
The rear is out of an LS1 T/A. My current rear is out of a LT1 car. I knwo the LS1s had different rotors and calipers... but the backign plates are the same right? The new rear is completely stripped of all brake hardware but I figured I would just swap over the stuff I have now. This a roadblock or nothing to worry about??? |
ls1 backing plates are 170ish for the pair i believe
|
maybe I have my terminology wrong, by backign plates I mean the metal tab-piece welded around the axle tube with 4 holes in it....
|
your brakes will bolt right up. the spacing of the holes stayed the same, they jsut changed the stuff that bolts to it.
|
sweet.

Talking to a... former regular member here , I remembered I have my stock v6 springs in my garage... (have V8 takeoffs now). I am thinking now... while the rear is out why not put in the V6 rear springs for obvious drag racing reasons???
|
Was he asking you for them? I was talking to him at the trucks about 93-97 rear v6 springs....
- Justin |
He did and reminded me that I still have em in my garage  so I wanna swap em in
