bill is the man with LSX tuning!!!1one!!

yea, you dont tune a LG4, you swap it out, lol. but if you ever get a newer engine, bill is apparently the best. Once i get my SS together, thats where I'm going. And if i keep my Denali, ill have him do that sometime too.

Prevost has the ability to tune your car, however he hasn't been around much lately. You may be better off grabbing a non-cc carb and a large-cap HEI and ditching the computer. I think you could get more driveability (and less milage) that way.

wait more drivability? and less gas? milage? I would like to ditch the stupid computer but have no idea how and dont have the money for a carb and any other stuff Id need...im also thinking eventually getting tpi and a turbo

Tru2Chevy 02-12-2006 01:01 AM

Since you are going to be adding a more radical cam and headers, and possibly heads as well, the computer may freak out a bit, depending on the difference in the cam. Adding a 'normal' carb and dizzy would allow you to make the car more driveable, but will never get the same gas milage as a well-running CC Q-jet.

Don't waste you money tuning the car now. When you do your mods you are going to need to dump that carb/computer setup. The carb just doesn't handle mods well, even a mild Emmision legal cam can be an issue. I wasted allot of money trying!

Not to mention if you want to go turbo..tpi isnt the best option either..

Teds89IROC 02-17-2006 12:43 AM

I agree with all these guys, don't waste your time getting a tune if you plan on swapping the motor and/or doing major mods. I'm looking for a hypertech chip for mine for now and then have prevost make a chip once I swap the 400 in. Also...TPI isn't a good choice for a tuebo, as mentioned..it chokes your engine at about 4300 rpm

Yea, but it wouldn't be an issue if the intake is pressurized. TPI turbo motors aren't bad at all....

hmm, good call..didn't even think of that lol...forced induction

well since I cant find anyone to tune it Im looking into a jet stage 2 chip but I cant find the avg gain for a quadrojet heres the site http://www.jetchip.com/d_hpgains.asp from the tpi what do you think the gain would be for a quadrajet? what other chips are good?

Oddball 02-18-2006 08:53 AM

Speaking as a proud LG4 owner, you can "tune" your engine to optimize things and get it running as best it can. Even the "Iron Duke" could be made to run slightly better. Now for our Lg4 it may be a "tune up" like plaug, wires, and sensors, but after i did all of that I noticed a BIG difference. the only thing I probably still should do it replace the choke.

When you have all of the components to do the kinds of changes you talk about, do all of them and get it re-tuned.

Those all suck. Please don't spend another second looking up pre-made chips to install in your car. The only tune to ever bother with is a custom tune designed for your car.

As we said before, there isn't a whole lot that can be tuned in the computer of an LG4, but if you really want to have it tuned, Prevost may be able to do it for you once you have the cam and other parts installed. It would be pointless to do it now, and then pay to do it again once you install these things.

i agree the chips are garbage..i ttried one and it made my car miss like crazy

like i pm'ed you about-my carb can support your engine and cam..

im not sure if the stock L69 computer is any better but maybe we can make a deal with that too if it helps you
