is your ass comfortable?
 

i'm looking for replacement seats. thirdgen seats are far from comfortable and the only difference between them and fourthgen seats seems to be stylistic, not comfort. my firstgen seats offer very little support at all.

so, out with it. are you comfortable in your daily driver? if so, are they stock seats? i would even consider seats out of a toyota. afterall, i'm just looking for a sound structure. i'll have katzkin or someone re-upholster them.

i'd need an adjustable lumbar, too. it's a very major concern if you know me. sometimes i need the extra support and sometimes it would bother the hell out of me. i really liked the seat in the olds achieva, but only because it rocked. it gave extra support to the legs and got some of the weight off of my spinal column.

GTA seats are i think the best 3rd gen seats in regards to comfort, lumbad and over all adjustability. and 4th gen firebird/ta seats are better than 4th gen camaro seats. Maybe vette seats? however i dont know about other brands such as toyota or honda.

vette seats would be a step up.

Another vote here for 4th gen TA seats. The most comfortable car seat aside from a cadillac.

i have the kirkey pro street seats, for aluminum seats with very little padding theyre awesome seats, justin has sat in the car and likes them very much also

my t/a seats are pretty nice... gto seats are confy as hell too but i doubt youll find them for sale cheap.... but did u ever think bout maybe a recaro seat or something along those lines i know different companys make kinda like a sport/racing seat with lumbar support reclinable ect to me that might be the best route to go (plus recaros come in some production cars already)

GTO seats, from what I hear, are very high quality. good suggestion Jake!

1st gen DSM seats are good, newer subaru seats are good, SRT-4 high bolster optional seats are the fuggin deal!!!!!
most vette seats look good, but really aren't comfortable to ride in after a while. i haven't been in any C6's yet, and no long trips in any C5's, but C4 on back the seats are purely decorative.

the stock seats in my bird are pretty comfortable too, 4th gen seats FTW!

the only problem with recaro is that i would either have to provide an existing bracket or fab one up. i am not against reinventing the wheel when it's necessary, but i just don't think that's the case here. btw, the only recaro i've seen has rigid lumbar, and that would probably not be enough on the days i need it and be too much on days when i don't.

so, yeah, i've thought about aftermarket seats. :D

interesting to note about the GTO seats, as they were imported with the monaro, right? now, that would be different. i wonder if all of the seats are the same or if they differ by year.

i know that the c6 seats are supposedly the best seat for auto-x and what-not, but i haven't heard what they are like in a DD. they sound like they'd be supportive, but the lumbar thing is a priority.

i had adjustable lumbar in a cadillac i owned ('85 eldo). but the seat was a 60/40 split, and the back was straight. i want buckets and i need at least a 6-way adjustment seat with the lumbar.

my moms Explorer seats are nice and comfy(01 Sport, Loaded to the hilt)

BMW seats! especially the leather ones! I dont know the exzact model but its like a $100,000 car, but Its got the best adjustability ever!!

My buddy put....I think grand prix seats in his 96 Impala SS. He had 12 way adjustable seats. The controller on it was huge. It looked like one of the control boxes for the low riders with the hydros.

find out what model, please. that would work.

and, just so you know, mercedes benz seats, which are also from $100,000+ cars, suck the big hairy donkey dick. they don't know the first thing about what should cushion your ass. now, the rest of the car... :drool:

You can search forums until your head turns blue on this topic. I am leaning towards the ProCar Rally seats for the 67 as they give the right look but offer more support and importantly the safety of a head rest. A lot of the aftermarket seats offer ready to bolt in seat tracks. But I know a lot of 2nd gen guys just unbolt the seat tracks from their sets & bolt them to new seats, mostly 4th gen seats.

I saw a few interesting threads at TGO, but it is down right now. Audi TT seats was one set. Another one had the GTA logo stiched in, look real nice (maybe the Arizens).

the grand prix and achieva share seating, i think. probably a step up in the GP, but the same starting structure.

also, i would prefer manual but i am not against power. power adjustment with the controller in the seat FTW! no wires to run (other than power and ground) and no controllers to have to fab a fiberglass housing for...

Most of the Toyota SR5 seats are very comfortable with side bolstering adjustments and lumbar support. My 88 4Runner is really way ahead of it's time with that regard. But adapting them to fit in a first gen will take some custom brackets for sure. The 6 way power driver's seat in my 96 SS is also very comfortable with lots of support and adjustment. If you look at YearONE, they have first gen style seat covers to fit the 4th gen seats(houndstooth looks great) and that's probably what I would go with.

That is the same basic seat I am putting in the 77 this summer. If I had a 69, I would likely consider the houndstooth setup.

seats from 1989-95 thunderbird or cougar adjustable lumbar came in Supercoupe's and real xr7's(3.8liter supercharged or 5.0 liter) not the newer badged xr7's 3.8 liter

its possible to fall asleep in these seats
(i know from experience like 8 inches of padding lol)


id trade u the seats out of my supercoupe but they smell like **** the sunroof leaks... bad
