Ticket driving thru Fort Dix?
Anybody ever get a ticket driving through Fort Dix? My little brother got two last night by a military officer as opposed to a police officer. The ticket has no mention of a local court and only has a self-addressed envelope to Georgia (this is what he told me over the phone). Who do you call to find out how much it is and do these tickets count against you like a typical ticket from a municipality? He just started driving and it's his first ticket(s) so I wanna help him out. Any thoughts?

if you want i'll try to ask my friend tonight. He's MP in fort Drum in upstate NY. Since it is on Government property, the local town court would have nothing to do with it. If anythign have him go ask an MP officer at the gates of the base. Also if it is a movign violation, there may not be any points, since techinally it is not a public roadway, instead its government land. anyway, i'll try askign my friend and see.

Sweet, I'd appreciate that. He was doing 57 in a 45 and he got another ticket for "not finding his insurance info fast enough" (I think my brother might be confused, but then again this is all new to me). Hopefully, you're right and the speeding ticket will be no points. Thanks again.

If he got a ticket for "not finding insurance fast enough" then id go laugh in that officers face

Ill get in touch with him tonight. and ill post back.
matt, keep in mind, these are MP, military police. On base, they do what they want and they have their own rules and regulations. They can ticket you for tons of stuff. i know airforce bases you MUST have headights off between certain times(sucks for auto on lights). |

Harsh, but at least you know that your brother will make sure that his registration and insurance will be within easy reach from now on...
Good luck in getting at least the insurance one thrown out. - Justin |
call the DoD Police station on Ft. Dix. There ar eno police on Dix except them. If he got a ticket from anyone else, question it highly. And if it was the DoD police, ask him if it was a short spanish dude. He's a total ass and hands out BS tickets to everyone. He gave my friend two tickets tha the didnt do, one for 80 mph in a 35 and reckless driving.

they don't expect you to fight the tickets. that's why they just include the payment envelope. i say fight them. you've got nothing to lose.

The DOD Police I would compare to the State Police. They're just restricted in area that they govern. Good luck to your brother man, hopefully they'll lighten up on him. |
Thanks for all the replies. I think he's just gonna pay them. The big concern was whether or not they were reported to the insurance or if they were worth any points on his license, and it seems like that's not the case.

take this as you will but i wouldnt pay them. when i lived on camp pendleton i knew plenty of civilians that got tickets and never paid them. you just cant drive on the base again cuz if you get pulled over again theyll run your info and youll get your car impounded. otherwise, dont bother, they do not report it to outside agencies or insurance companies, its strictly internal. at least thats how the marine corps was, army has nothin better to do so they might bitch you out.
