620 rwhp all motor LS7

I think a set of ported LS7 heads are in my future :D

LG Motorsports tops 623 rwhp and 533 rwtq

Is this nice or what!

LG Cam, Headers, minor exhaust port work and EWP and some other special LGM touches!

We had to do it for all the doubters of our LG Pro Long Tube headers. These are our standard 1 3/4" LG PRo Long Tube Headers with our new G7X-4 cam and Electric Water Pump. We just finished it and did a fast tune so we will be able to smooth out the curve later. but I was so excited to reach over 600, and in fact over 620rwhp that I had to post this fast.

The low end torque never drops below 400 even at 2500 rpms and it is above 500 rwtq from 4300 to 6300rpms.

This will be my daily driver so I will give you updates as we go along. We will see if this cam is as docile as I think it is for this 7 liter engine.

Thanks to all our supporters and those of you who have never doubted our headers as a true broad power band performer.

It is area under the curve that matters, and with over 620rwhp it makes quite a bit of "Area"

Thanks
Lou Gigliotti

AH HAH! they used 1 3/4 headers! F' All the LS1 people who bitch that we don't carry a 1 7/8th anymore! You can still make big power on them!

Yeah, I spent over $1000 for my QTP 1 7/8ths to replace my Hooker LT's so I could get a few more ponies out of my new motor. That probably wasn't worth the cost.

bad64chevelle 04-05-2006 05:48 PM

they bitch over 1/8 of an inch?

Anyway that LS7 is crazy.

Tru2Chevy 04-05-2006 06:14 PM

 Nice....

I don't supposed they have a dyno video anywhere, do they?

1/8" is the same as the difference between the traditional small block header sizes and you can see the performance gains with them.
with LS1's you can make power without worrying about having as much tubing because of the revised firing order. the same would be true of any gen 1 or 2 SBC if you used a cam with a 4-7 swapped firing order.

does the 4/7 make that big of a difference?

I remember reading an article on this, I believe the only gains were above 6000 rpm and not worth if you had a mild to stock built motor. I think it was 10hp or something similar, I could be wrong though.

Correct, the power gains arent that great that you would swap out an equal cam. In a race motor where you are looking for the optimal performance and another 2hp means a lot, yes.

Anyway, thats 620 rear wheel hp? NICE!!! Figure 15% loss, thats 713hp at the crank. GM left a lot in that motor....a whole lot. This is the main reason I dont see them going to a SC motor in the future unless its cost effective to do so.

Those LS7 head's airflow numbers are crazy. I read an article in a magazie that interviewed a few performance guru's about the LS7. They all said that the intake side of the head was pretty much maxed out, maybe a little can be gained by a little porting, but not much. they said that most of the porting work would be done to the exhaust side. those heads basically allow you to run the biggest cam you can fit in the journals. Those motors are so advanced its not even funny.

BigAls87Z28 04-07-2006 06:12 PM

The heads are already CNC machined to perfect flow. The LS7 is an amazing piece of technology. Cram that down your overhead cam throats C&D, MotorTrend, R&T, and Edmunds.com.

Ian 04-07-2006 07:06 PM

the heads arent perfect. a few porting guys said they could work the exhaust over a little better.

Yeah, LG got those numbers by doing minor exhaust port work, big cam, EWP, matched cam, headers and tuning.
