wet sanding

i primed painted and cleared the tail panel on my mustang and its still not smooth enough, how do you go about wet sanding? never done it before, i need very fine sand paper and water?

Depending on how much clear you used you can wet sand it with either 1500 or 2000 paper. Make sure you add some dish soap to the water. After you sand it the paint will look dull and really bad. It needs to be buffed out either with a machine or is you're really ambitious you can do it by hand after.

when i clear coated my car i did like 7 coats of clear so i didnt burn through the paint or sand through the clear when i wet sanded, i just finally did it this past winter and it changed the look of the car so much!

wet sanding then buffing FTW! Also it depends how the clear layed out, if it has "orange peel" then it will take more effort sanding to get it smooth, but as paul mentioned, the amount of sanding you can do depends on how much clear you put on.
