Subject: Customer Satisfaction - Painted Roof Adhesive Separation #05112A - (02/23/2006)

Models: 2005-2006 CHEVROLET CORVETTE

WITH PAINTED ROOF

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEPS 3 AND 23 IN THE SERVICE PROCEDURE HAVE BEEN REVISED. PLEASE REVIEW THE REVISED PROCEDURE IMMEDIATELY. DISCARD ALL COPIES OF BULLETIN 05112 ISSUED FEBRUARY 2006.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS PROGRAM IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MARCH 31, 2007.

Condition
On certain 2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles, the painted roof panel may separate from its frame in some areas if it is exposed to stresses along with high temperature and humidity. The occupants of the vehicle may notice one or more of these symptoms: a snapping noise when driving over bumps, wind noise, poor roof panel fit, roof panel movement/bounce when a door or hatch is closed, or a water leak in the headliner.

Correction
Dealers are to apply adhesive foam to ensure proper adhesion, or in a small number of vehicles, replace the roof panel.

Vehicles Involved
Involved are certain 2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles with a painted roof, and built within these VIN breakpoints:

Year
Division
Model
From
Through

2005
Chevrolet
Corvette
55100002 thru
55135053

2006
Chevrolet
Corvette
65100001 thru
65100046

Important: Dealers should confirm vehicle eligibility through GMVIS (GM Vehicle Inquiry System) prior to beginning program repairs. [Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.]

For US and Canada: For GM dealers, Canadian Saab, and Canadian Saturn retailers with involved vehicles, a Campaign Initiation Detail Report (CIDR) containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name and address data has been prepared and will be loaded to the GM DealerWorld (US) Recall Information, GMinfoNet (Canada) Recall Reports. For US Saturn retailers only, the involved vehicles are provided in a Facility VIN List file sent to you at your current email address. Dealers/retailers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned.

For Export: For dealers with involved vehicles, a Campaign Initiation Detail Report containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name and address data has been prepared, and is being furnished to involved dealers. Dealers will not receive a report with the bulletin if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned.

The Campaign Initiation Detail Report may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this program is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this program.

Parts Information
Parts required to complete this program are to be obtained from General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). Please refer to your "involved vehicles listing" before ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.

i dont know about you guys but if someone was mad that their roof came off their z06, id gladly take it off their hands and drive around roofless with pride.

dahm, a lot of people must have linked to there. lol the BL thread has 8500 posts and only 30,000 views.

If that was my car... oh god, id feel sorry for my dealer(dealiers hate me), and i would do everything in my power to get my money back or a new car.

Tru2Chevy 04-21-2006 02:25 PM

Eh, I can understand the issue, I would be pretty upset too. But I wouldn't be demanding a new car as long as the roof panel was re-attached with a better method than the original.

ins0mnia24 04-21-2006 03:08 PM

Reminds me when i bought my car in 02 It had 7 or 9 miles on it and i didn't even get it home and the SES Light came on, Both Cats went when i got about 24 miles away from the dealer, I was so pissed, But the only other Camaro they had left was a SS Convertible,

jola 04-21-2006 03:21 PM

even without a roof, that car is still sexy. dealership fixes it anyways. i don't see why people (not necessarily this forum) now think the c6 is a terribly engineered car.

Rob WS6 04-21-2006 03:46 PM

Ok, bunch of ****ing whiny ass bitches over there. Im gonna break it down:

OK, sure, it sucks. The roof panel that fell off is NOT a structual piece. Period. Secondly, **** HAPPENS. I work in manufacturing, and there is NO WAY to control everything. Do you think GM makes that adhesive? NO! An outside contractor makes if FOR GM, and chances are, they ****ed up. Thing is, things like that are hard to find. Its obvious that GM knows exactly what and where got ****ed up so the situation is already rectified... so give them some damn slack, **** happens. Chances are the manufacturer of the adhesive send an out of date batch, or the formula was incorrect. In most instances, the QA of the supplier should take steps to make sure this doesent happen, but thats not always the case, and contracts are lost from negligence like that.

If customers really knew some ofthe **** that comes from suppliers, noone would buy anything from anywhere. Alot of times, the suppliers actually have suppliers. This happenned where I work for exapmple, I cant get into details (classified ****) but a supplier of ours was having one of thier parts made for us by a secondary supplier. We have been having problems with that part for years until I finally raised a big enough stink that they looked into depth. Low and behold the parts were WAY out of tolerance on a microscopic level.

So **** happens, its not always the manufacturers fault, so I wish those whiny wussies would cut them some slack.

NJSPEEDER 04-21-2006 03:56 PM

wow. someone has a bagina full of the icky sand today.

we all know that there are a million ways a defect in one part or another can occur. it happens to every manufacturer of anything all over the world.

now take a deep breath and relax a little, it is jsut a web conversation, not an expert panel ****ting in your cheerios.

Rob WS6 04-21-2006 04:34 PM

No sand, I havent been to the beach in a while! Actually all that was aimed at the corvette forum... Im just to lazy to register there and post it.

Tsar 04-21-2006 04:42 PM

um..if i bought a new Z06 and my roof came off i would be pretty pissed. i wouldnt really care who messed up all i know is my 75k ish car doesnt have a ****ing roof. i know its cosmetic but that wouldn't make it any better. maybe im expecting too much i dunno.
