Does anybody know of a good shop to get my cam install done, is it expensive or should I just do it myself;)

If you are comfortable turning a wrench I say do it yourself. A cam swap is pretty easy (just time consuming) as long as you are careful.

It is expensive, lots of labor. Along with tearing the front of the engine apart you need pay to have the valve springs changed, so you are paying for probably 2 days of labor.

As Justin stated, it's a matter of taking you time and doing it right. You have to be very careful on reassembly to keep everything very clean as well as not to damaged the seals in the timing chain cover and oil pan gasket or you'll get leaks!

You need a decent set of tools sockets/wrenches, and a few special tools:
Jack/jackstands
Pulley remove crank hub,
Hub install tool ( NOT A HAMMER )
Fuel line disconnect tool,
Valve springs removal tool. Because the LT1 sits so far back under the cowl you can't use a $15 ply bar, you need a $100 tool!

Well Im definitely comfortable turning a wrench, but I dont know about cam install, its a really big deal I dont want to mess it up lol,...where can I get a tool to remove the springs? just putting them in would sketch me out lol, I dont know about the lash and all that

or someone around nj that could do it for like under 500 bucks? lol
