Think my Water Pump was bad?? :PICS:

Decided to get off my ass and replaced the water pump. I ordered the GMP one through summit and a summit cap and rotor for the opti and it came in thursday. I thought the pump was leaking out of the weephole, I was a tad wrong.

EDIT: I didnt pull that bearing cover off, it was still hanging on the shaft on the front of the motor. I didnt know what it was till i flipped the pump over and noticed the missing bearings....

Tsar 05-19-2006 10:16 PM

they might appear to be fine and not leak then explode with you're crusing on the highway at 60mph....true story.

Rob WS6 05-19-2006 10:20 PM

Ive had origonal hoses on all my cars (88 and 92) and have never had a problem with them. No need to waste money on hoses when theres nothing wrong with whats on there .

BigAls87Z28 05-20-2006 12:12 AM

Ugh...please dont say that.
Rubber parts need to be changed, no way around it. I understand if there are financial problems, but if this is your daily...start gathering coins.

What's the old sayig, 'an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure'?

BigAls87Z28 05-20-2006 09:46 AM

Um, sure!! Ill use that at work today!
Belts, Hoses and Tires, no more then 5 years on any of them.

if it's not broken, dont fix it

BigAls87Z28 05-20-2006 10:25 PM

Yeah, MANY people have that mentality.
Problem is, when it breaks, it breaks bad....and then its MY fault when I tell people how much it will take to fix it.
"BUT IT WASN'T GRINDING YESTERDAY!?!?!"
No, your right...Im sure the caliper piston wasnt grinding on the rotor yesterday...that was the backing plate of the brake pad.

that shouldnt be applied to rubber parts, u know rubber wear out pretty quick, ehh? going from really hot to cool to cold isnt really good for any kind of material. do you ever chage your tires or you just drive on your rims too?

Savage_Messiah 05-21-2006 02:00 PM

yea speaking of changine hoses and such when i step on the brake i hear creaking... its scaring me

If you would just put them in, you wouldn't break down.

BigAls87Z28 05-21-2006 09:42 PM

Exactly. Thats like saying "I have a 400hp engine in the garage just in case my stock 120hp LG4 goes to ****."

funny you should say that... in my case I actually do. lol

deadtrend1 05-22-2006 04:42 PM

Wow, guess I should head out to the store since everyone here knows everything about my car. How far I drive it, how often I drive it. Why I have no cash right now, how many other projects I got going on. The time I have to do all this.

I posted a thread, (in the wrong forum accidentally also) showing how bad the damn thing was leaking and I FINALLY got the spare cash and time to get that swapped. GOD FORBID I forgot to buy the damn hoses at that time. Conisidering I drive the car literally not even 2 hours a week and less then 2 miles from my house, I don't think its a case of Dire emergency right now.

Now this isn't aimed at everone in this thread...:)

Tsar 05-22-2006 04:45 PM

remove the tampon from buttocks and life will be good again.

BigAls87Z28 05-22-2006 10:27 PM

No one is telling you to do anything. Like I say at work, in the end its your car.

camaro2you 05-23-2006 09:21 AM

like always say do it right the first time.

BonzoHansen 05-23-2006 02:46 PM

Sorry, I guess I started this. I didn’t mean for you to get upset…I was just busting balls.

I know you were, I even made a joke about it when you typed that. And then it turned into a 20 page argument from everyone with highly opinionated statements that I didn't do it right, I should have done this yada yada yada. I honestly don't care really. In the end it is MY car and I think I know it better then anyone else here.

Its all good though...... be well!
