Wheels and rubber that fit?

I was planning 17 rims but i wanted 9.5" front and 10/11 back... what is the widest you can go on an 96 trans? what kind of rubber can you run (for the street not strip) like nittos or whatever without it becomming an issue with clearance?

also, i found a bunch i like on ebay but they come in sets of 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 back... will those fit? what would the correct wheel sizes be to level them out with an inch difference in the rim sizes?

ps. stock suspension height

I have the 275/40/17 on 17x9.5 up front and 315/35/17 on 17x11 in the rear. You could probably go a little wider up front like 285's but I needed to trim the rear bumpstops in the rear to make sure the wheels/tires did not make contact when the car is jacked up and the suspension hangs down. The handling is incredible and it looks great too.

11" is the widest you can go front and back but that will require modification. 9.5" is the absolute widest i would go up front though

Im with jeff + jake .... i just put in 17x11 with 315's up back and luckily, no modification was needed, but i will most likely roll the fenderlips back for safety precaution ... 17x9.5 with 275s up front which also required no modification. If ur gonna go wider in the back, get an adjustable panhard bar.

11" rears FTW!!!!!

Did you trim the bumpstops in the rear? If not, check very carefully to see if the wheels/tires come too close when the suspension hangs down. If someone puts the car on a lift the bumpstops could gouge the wheels and cut the tires. Your wheels might have a different offset which gives you a little extra clearance. My 17x11 wheels have 50mm offset which is real close on the inside so I had to trim the bumpstops. The Sumitomo 315's run a little narrower than most other brands so they give some extra clearance.

Nope, no trimming needed. I even jacked the car up on its side and i had ALOT of room. I might just hammer in the inner fender for safety but other than that, its good to go . I think i only hit the fenderlip once and that was with 2 other ppl in the car, so backseats are going bye bye

Found the specs on the wheels i'm looking at:

17x9.5 +54mm
18x10.5 +58mm

I have no idea what the mm measurements are?

Would these fit?

yeah those would be fine. vette wheels i assume? you may have to do a little hammer and cutting mods but nothing that serious

What tire dimensions would i use to keep the car level though? i'd hate to have it "leaning foward" cause of the inch difference... think it would look pretty stupid, and perform pretty ****** too

here ya are buddy, copied directly from a sticky on ls1tech:

17"x9.5" +50 to +56 mm no problems. 275/40R17.

18"x10.5" +50 to +53 mm. Higher than 53 mm will require the BFH mod. 285/35R18s thru 315/30R18. Over 295 may require rolling the fenderlip and will need the BFH.

edit: bfh= big f'n hammer

Another +1 for the 17x9.5 up front & 17x11 in the rear. Most of us went with the Sumotumo HTR 275/40/17 up front & 315/35/17 in the rear. The 315's look great on T/As!
