Neighborhood Watch

i am sure most of you are like me and are perfectly aware of who does and doesn't live in your neighborhood.
i was jsut outside and i saw someone driving really slow, like 5mph, down my street. being that i didn't recognize the car as being local and couldn't think of any good reason why someone woudl drive so slow down my street i stood and watched it. as teh car got closer i saw the driver looking around at the houses and he wasn't anyone i recognized.
as he got near the end of my driveway he saw me standing there staring at him and he had the balls to stop the car and talk **** through his window.
he asked if i had a problem, i said "no, are you looking for someone?" he then told me to mind my own business. my response, "this is my street, you creeping down it is my business."
at that point he looked like he was getting ready to get out of the car and since i was standing right at the door of my garage i reached behind my compressor and pulled out a 5ft shale bar, it only weighs about 25lbs :D
he continued trying to look hard as he rolled up the window and pulled away, now driving faster than when he pulled into the neighborhood.
i got his plate number and it will be passed along to a few cop friends of mine tonight. :)

I do the same thing on my street except i don't use any bar's , I have a nice handy spring loaded Baton that's usually with me at all times.
It's good to live in a Neighnorhood like that i have a lot of nosey neighbor's which also comes in handy, So handy they even call my house when someone is either stopped by my car out in the street or someone on foot standing around it, Even my girlfriends neighborhood in Little ferry is the same way except they actually will yell for people to get the **** out of the neighborhood LOL
Well handled NJSPEEDER

i am kind of protective of my street and all of my friends know it. my neighbors are mostly cool, even the ones that aren't keep an eye out. it isn't a fancy place by any stretch, middle class burbs at their finest though.
i am by no means looking for a fight, but that doesn't mean i ain't ready for one.

I hate people trolling through neighborhoods; they're either looking for stuff to steal, or kids to prey on. Always keep an eye out, and make sure the cars and houses are locked down tight! Good job on catching the plate, I hope the cops find the guy and have a reason to question his actions.

good job tim... i dont have that problem either my driveway is like a 1/4 mile long

Are you allowed to kill anyone who steps on your property in N.J., or is that a no go?

Ian 05-18-2006 06:28 AM

if they enter your house and threaten your life, you can kill them. but if you attempt to kill them and they make it outside, you're in trouble.

That's a pretty weak law. Can't even defend your property.

JL8Jeff 05-18-2006 07:24 AM

Nope, you can't do anything in NJ without serious risk of being sued. You just gotta make sure you're in good with the Soprano's that live up the street and you'll be fine!

12secondv6 05-18-2006 08:05 AM

Just bring the body in the house

NJSPEEDER 05-18-2006 02:30 PM

i am not really worried about it either way. i know enough cops and sourt officials around here that any account of the incident woudl be written up in a very beneficial manner. :)
you are allowed to physically stop someone from trying to take or damage personal property and you are allowed to physically remove people from your property. you jsut aren't allowed to kill them unless you "feel" threatened. to my way of thinking, since i don't know the guy, if he threatens me i woudl take it seriously and beat the living **** out of the bastard.

79CamaroDiva 05-18-2006 06:07 PM

my "neighborhood" is very tight knit. those of you who were down here the other day know why its in quotes, but there's about 7 families on my end of the road, 4 of us are pretty close, so we always keep an eye out for peoples stuff. then again, if anyone can find their way down here they should be able to get something out of it

Savage_Messiah 05-18-2006 06:09 PM

yea seriously, if you didnt add that last sentance I would have
