heh ive just got the last section of the ex system welded up,should be able to fire this motor up sometime in an hour or so,ill post up pics when i get home tonight,if all goes well i may bring it out to the trucks tongiht, but i dont know how well its gonna run without a tune, though if it wont run at 8+psi i could swap in my 3psi wastegate spring.

Tru2Chevy 05-31-2006 02:08 PM

Nice. Can't wait to see pics...or the real thing if you bring it to the trucks.

well something is messed up dam thing is dead lean at idle and sounds like its missing but its not running ruff.could just be cause 3 cyls run threw the turbo and out to the y pipe to the muffler if thats all it is.it has a uniqe sound.but i cant for the life of me figure out why its lean at idle/off idle.ima have to go over ther car tommorow.im just worn out today.ill post up some pictures in a bit.justin ull have to settle for seeing it next week at the trucks.

Savage_Messiah 05-31-2006 05:09 PM

youre saying only half of the engine is running thru the turbo????

Mike 05-31-2006 06:44 PM

enRo 05-31-2006 06:50 PM

I certainly hope that's not what he meant. If so he's in for an unpleasant surprise.

project89 05-31-2006 07:17 PM

the turbo runs off one bank of cyls, the whole engine is turbocharged, ull see soon as i get the pics up.if i wanted to run the turbo of the ex gas from all 6cyls i would have needed to get one with a very large ar on the hotside

Frosty 05-31-2006 07:24 PM

No offense but you're probably never going to get that thing to run right only running off of one bank.

JL8Jeff 05-31-2006 08:54 PM

Yeah, you need all the cylinders feeding the turbo because that creates backpressure. With just one bank feeding the turbo the engine will be totally unbalanced with engine load and backpressure. That's why the Buick and GMC turbos have one side cross over to meet the other side.

enRo 05-31-2006 08:57 PM

Just buy another turbo and feed it to the other bank... :-D

Rob WS6 05-31-2006 09:02 PM

Yeah its definatley never going to run right. On one side youve got little to no backbpressure, and on the other youve got much more back pressure, plus heat. You HAVE to run a turbo off of all the cylinders (6 in your case) or it will never work.

project89 05-31-2006 09:39 PM

the turbo is small enough to run off one side, was told it will work, but if i have to ill either modify the headers so they merge,or im just buying a second turbo.anyways im off to the trucks
edit
**** it im doing twin t04e 's :)

Whoever said that is really reaching there. Do it the right way, either run a crossover pipe or get another turbo. :)

GP99GT 06-01-2006 12:42 AM

well the fact that he said hes off to the trucks...and we didnt see him there...something went wrong

project89 06-01-2006 01:36 PM

it was a bad night didnt make it to far and i get pulled over, got tickets for ex system, unsafe viechal, and for the 4 inch cowl hood, and the bastard of a cop tried to tow my dam car.i cant wait the few more years for my cars to be eligable for hotrod plates, though the limits on milage with those suck
i deff need a beater to drive.

anyways this wekend im gonna make my new headers and run the crossover pipe, turbo wouldnt make more then 5-6 psi with an 8psi wategate spring off the one bank, though i really didnt push it to hard cause im running a lil lean

Tru2Chevy 06-01-2006 01:39 PM

What were the reasons for the tickets?

Why don't you just get collectors registration on it? 3k miles/year limit, inspection = "Does the odometer work?" :D

- Justin

project89 06-01-2006 01:46 PM

well 4 ich cowl hood = obstruction of view
my ex system is dam loud no cats bullets and turn downs
and the unsafe car becuase the cop felt that the car didnt belong on the street
from what ive been told the harwood hood is only 3.5 inch on the sides so i may be able to beat that ticket
the ex system ticket i just have to pay
and im fighting the unsafe viechal ticket cause the car has a valid inspection sticker on it,though in reality it isnt street legal
collectors/historic i cant get the cars arent old enough, and i think ur limited to driving to and from car shows/racetrack and only allowed to really drive the car on sundays, with hotrod plates u can drive anyday of the week, but 3000 miles a year(easily fixable) but my 3rdgens arent old enough for that yet 25 years old i belive id have to dbl check

bad64chevelle 06-01-2006 01:48 PM

collectors isnt vehicle age limited...and with QQ tags you CANNOT be driving it anyday of the week. It is supposed to be to/from a show however this is not usually enforced. I have never heard of "Hotrod Plates" either

Tru2Chevy 06-01-2006 01:54 PM

Collectors isn't age related at all, but you do need collectors insurance.

The triangle sticker is for collectors tags. Limited to 3000 miles a year.

12secondv6 06-01-2006 02:23 PM

So, you have a turbo 3 cylinder in this car????

This is why I thought 12's/ 13's might be a bit more difficult than you originally thought
