Two cars crushed for street racing in Canada

They should do this in the states. If you're found street racing, your car not only gets impounded, but gets crushed. i know there was something about a town doing it in Cali, it needs to be country-wide.

haha, what a great way to rid the world of ricers

BigAls87Z28 06-18-2006 11:35 PM

Neg, total over abuse of the law. I dont condone street racing, but crushing a car is no way an answer. Thats like killing someone who shop lifts.

meh...i dont exactly condone street racing, but it happens...old people steal **** too

bad64chevelle 06-19-2006 12:03 AM

:werd: im no angel when it comes to having raced on the street, but recently I have mellowed out and have a new view on it. Not saying itll never happen again, but I will think twice about it.

unstable bob gable 06-19-2006 12:15 AM

I think it is OK if they crush ricers. In fact they should crush the rice boy along with the car! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!

Brando56894 06-19-2006 01:47 AM

:funny: UBG strikes again...

V 06-19-2006 02:57 AM

ok, the 2 cars that were crushed were "stopped in seperate instances" and both seized because they had been "heavily modified for street racing"... thats the problem, they can impound for MODIFICATIONS, not just if you are caught in the act of street racing. Thats where i dont agree. plus they dont have to crush them, seizing them is enough. The cars should then be given JUNK titles and be sent to be dismantled at liscensed auto parts recyling yards. thats just my opinion. But my point is, if i build my car for the track, and i take it on the street and get stopped, (if this law ever made it around here) they could justify taking my car, which is BS.

foff667 06-19-2006 07:43 AM

yes, please rid the world of all honda's

jola 06-19-2006 08:10 AM

lol, that's kinda funny, but its ridiculous. i think there are at least a few people here that have raced one or two times on the street. imagine getting caught and having your car crushed. sickening.

thats crap

79CamaroDiva 06-19-2006 10:53 AM

apparently none of you have ever lost a friend to a street race..

If they started crushing cars for street racing, people might actually stop doing it. Impounds and points dont work. No one wants to see their hard earned money get crushed. I'm not agreeing with the 'modified for street racing' part of the article, but if they can prove you were racing someone else, take the ****ing car and crush it like a soda can.

lets also shoot all drunk drivers, cuz they kill people too. and dont give me crap about "i only had one beer" u drink and drive u die. how about that? we can also wipe out drug addicts, cuz they are no good too, they steal and if they drive under the influence they're just as dangerous as drunk drivers.

its pointless... ohh and i can go on and on.

Squirrel 06-19-2006 12:03 PM

more tracks FTW :w00t:

You're comparing the execution of a person to crushing a car. I think if drunk drivers got THEIR cars crushed, hey.. certainly cant drink and drive then.

I'm of a mixed mind concerning this one. I'd rather not see (or get hit by) any street races, so doing something to convince people not to do it is a good thing. Maybe the government could take some of the money they use to enforce traffic laws, and reimburse tracks for 2 free days of racing a month, it might just cut down the number of street races. The impromptu ones will still happen, but the grudge matches could be taken to the track at least.

Crushing cars certainly sends a powerful message - hopefully it will drastically reduce the number of street races. However having your car crushed, after so much money, seems like abuse as Big Al said.

I was thinking the other day that it would be ****in SWEET if they put one in each county (or most of them), with island, etown and atco taking care of their respective counties... yea... would be badass.

jola 06-19-2006 12:41 PM

i'm sure it will drastically reduce street racing. however, i'm of the opinion you should let people live their lives with relative freedom. i'd rather not have big brother smashing my car at his own discretion.

yea sure its a little extreme but dont u think it will send the messege? im gonna pull a melissa and say, how many of your friends have died because of drunks? my best friend was t-boned cuz a drunk ran a red light. he's dead now. another friend was ran into head on by an SUV with a drunk behind the wheel. he was driving a celica, he's also dead. Another one of my friends was cliped on a bike (he beieves it was a drunk behind the wheel) lost control and spent months in the hostipal with pretty much every bone on his left side of the body being broken, he's still alive tho. do those drunks deserve to die - yup.

/hijack

So you've never gone WOT on public roads? cuz that can certainly qualify for crushing your car by some cops. how would that make u feel?

enRo 06-19-2006 01:16 PM

Life in prison?? WTF, car crushing is easy to deal with but life in prison? So a rapist would do less time than a street racer "in most serious cases" ... unless u killed somebody, thats wrong.

Quote:

The bill recommends raising maximum sentences to life in prison for the most serious cases and also calls for mandatory driving bans for those convicted.
