looking to upgrade LS1 throttle body

I'm looking for some type of upgrade over my stock LS1 trottle body, BUT is it even worth it? i will nto be upgrading to a LSX intake so the 90mm is out of the question, possibly one day i'lll switch to a ls2 intake a TB someday but for now i just want a little bit more. Supposedly the stock TB is 75mm but only a 72mm without some porting work. Ive found a few but i dont know how good any of them are..
  • BBK 80mm...$300
  • Accufab 75mm...$400
  • FAST 78MM(some say it will fit stock intakes...)...$400
  • Thunder racing ported stock TB...$150
  • Lingenfelter ported stock TB...$100
  • MTI
  • Holley 80mm
  • OR just try porting it myself (i have 2 housings in case i screw up)
You would assume the BBK to be the best choice but im hesitant of BBK products(dunno why though). I may try porting 1 housing i have, and if i screw up, i think i'll go for the lingenfelter one. What do you guys suggest?

The BBK is a waste i have it on my car , It is a excellent quality piece but performance wise Nothing... It also gave me some IAC problem's which had to be tuned out...The only thing i probably benifited from is a faster opening cam on the throttle body but other than that i wouldn't bother with it..If i didn't sell my stocker i would of put it back on.... You are probably better off porting or getting a ported throttle body ...Neweraperformance.com does it on exchange basis for 75 buck's which seem's to be fav with people on LS1TECH ... End of August i think i am going to upgrade to a TPIS t.b. and Intake 3 friend's of mine are having better result's with it than the Fast t.b. & intake's plus it is cheaper i think..

Just port the stock one.

Wasn't there some guy (Nick I think) who was getting really good results with his ported TBs?

I bought a used ported stock TB. They are in the classifieds on LS1tech all the time for $75-$100. Kept my stocker just in case.

I thought the Shaner guy was better at porting t.b.'s except his only fault is he has alot of health issue's so sometime's it takes a while for him to get the t.b.'s done..

Nick Williams is around $450 and unless your wanting a 90mm to match a 90mm intake I'd say get a ported stock TB.
