Custom Plates
 

Is there a (DMV) web site you can go to too see if a plate custom/Personalized number has already been given out?

I don't think so. You just have to mail in the form and hope that one of your choices isn't already taken.

I think mailing in the form and waiting for a reply will take less time than waiting in line at the MVC.

i got personalized plates on the camaro and i had to go to DMV get the application and mail in 3 choices for names and pray 1 of them wasnt taken .. they wont tell you **** at dmv if its used or not even when i called to see which name i would be getting they said i had to wait until i recieved the plates in the mail to find out -- damn plate nazi's !!( which took approx 2 months)

Some states have that available, however Jersey isn't one of them. Of course, if you have a friend that's a cop, they could probably run a few plate combos for you to see if anything is available without having to send in the paperwork to DMV.

they have an on-line check here in ny mine says BLACKHWK

when my friend was working midnights as a dispatcher, id call him up with a list of plates and we'd go through checking them all... i still remember a few... TOPLESS, GOTMILK(white 99 audi), SHIRT, STOLEN(red 81 camaro in south jersey)... we must have ran over a hundred, lol.

Yeah NJ hasn't figured out how to use the interweb thingy to update the list of plates they have on the road.

SO, we get the shaft yet again and have to fill out paper work and hope to god we get one that we ask for, and it's usually the one we don't want. LMAO

Mine is PREYONU but I'm thinking of changing it.

i turned in my blownta plates the other day, just sent the form for

Why did you send them back, if you wanted it again?? You can keep personalized plates for a few years before they need to be re-registered.

Ya know, BOOSTD we all know is "boosted" and all, but I hope you're not single if you get that one, because I coudl easily see a non-car person reading it as "BOO STD." Just givin ya the heads up. :lol:

Even when you turn in the plates, that plate is on hold for a year or so before NJ will release it to someone else.

the car was on my moms name, now i switched it to mine, and had to register the car and turn the old plates in.

thats funny lol, never thought about that.

I had to go through 8 names before I got mine on my Mustang, my 8th choice. That's why I am otherwise known as TRUPONY. Yeah yeah stupid, I know, but you have to fill in all 4 boxes, so I made this one up! NJ should definitly set up a database for this stuff!

I got stuck with N2O Baby because I wanted something else and thought that they would never get to my third choice. I am thinking of getting another one but it takes forever to find out.

I thought about "I810BLT" I hate 10-bolt, but everyone imedietly thinks Bacon Lettuce & Tomato, which I don't hate.

I've always wanted to go for a custom plate, but it just spells trouble to someone who wants to mess with you, they are usually easier to remember.

I ate 10 BLTs. :laugh:
