i wasnt a huge fan of his music, he was only with the band for one album i think. their earlier music with syd was really similar to the beetles. i like their later music with dave gilmour alot better.

but still, syd created the band

camaroracer1992 07-11-2006 01:12 PM

he was a good musician but from what ive read a total whack job/******* htough.

i agree with shane the music with gilmour i think is def better

amargari 07-11-2006 01:12 PM

If not for Syd, we would have never had the Wish You Were Here album.

A rock band that was big in the 70's and 80's. Some of their bigger albums are "Dark Side of the Moon", "The Wall", "Wish You Were Here", and "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" Dark Side of the Moon was on the Billboard 200 list for 741 consecutive weeks.

It is a sad day. I heard Roger Waters is playing PNC sometime late this summer. I may just attend.

Love that Pink Floyd. Syd was a real inspiration to a lot of musicians that you younger types listen to today. While he had his troubles, launching Pink Floyd with the talent that made up the band, is a lasting legacy for him that still continues to today.

Having said that, I agree that I like the David Gilmour era better if I was forced to choose. Have six PF albums in my car, though thats a dangerous combo late at night when yer tired. ;)

:( :( :(

firehawk1120 07-11-2006 04:46 PM

is this like druggie, drum / guitar whiney crap?? cause if so that's why I don't know what it is. I had a friend into this stuff and grateful dead too.

GP99GT 07-11-2006 04:56 PM

pink floyd >>>>>>> x100 grateful dead

NJSPEEDER 07-11-2006 05:06 PM

pink floyd wasn't whiney music, it was definately inspired by drugs in large part though.
they covered a lot of different styles over the years, from 60's weirdness to some limited pop success in the mid-90's.

pink floyd is one of the greatest bands of all time. if you have never heard something by them you truly live in a jar.

jin1481 07-11-2006 07:10 PM

i thought syd barrett died a while ago....but seriously man youve never heard another brick in the wall.....we dont need no education...come on man

firehawk1120 07-11-2006 08:46 PM

like i said not my style of music. I have heard the name but I couldn't tell you a song they sang, and I know if I heard one I'll probably want to kill myself.

BonzoHansen 07-11-2006 09:28 PM

I guess you like n'synch and stuff like that? :)

BigAls87Z28 07-11-2006 10:05 PM

He does go after the "N'sync" type of crowd, or at least used to...so Im sure he knew all of Justin Timberlakes moves by heart.
