Brian, get on 287 north to the RT80west exit (can't remember number), take that to exit 19. After getting off Ex19, go left at the stop sign and take that road alllll the way out. Then take a right at the end in the middle of a town (more of a bear right, but still right). Take that road a ways down, then it's on the right. If I go I'll let you know if you wanna meet up with a few locals and just follow me there.

taking 287 to 80 is about 20 minutes longer than need be, unless you're meeting up with people off of 80, and rt 80 traffic is HORRENDOUS that time of day

If you don't mind a back road that goes over a mountain, take 287N to 78W to exit 24 (Oldwick/Whitehouse, rt 517) Make a right off the exit. Stay on 517 for probably 10 or 15 miles. You'll come down Schooleys Mountain, and come to a traffic light, stay straight, that's Mountain Avenue in Hackettstown. At the traffic light for rt 46, bear left onto 46W (there will be a Shell Station on your right). Stay on 46 for about 7 miles, track entrance will be on the right, just after cannonballs go-go bar.

ADD directions.. 287N to 78 W to 517N to 46W. 7 miles on right.

Google and Mapquest say to take 206, you could go that route too, but 206 has a bunch of traffic lights.

You could also take 78W to 31N if you want to take mostly highways. Again, you might hit traffic, but the rt 31 directions can be found on islands website.
http://www.islanddragway.com/directions.htm

if its a really nice day out, make sure you get there early to get the most runs in. don't show up at 8 and cry about only 3 runs

lastcall190 08-02-2006 11:54 PM

Well traffic is up to what time he leaves. ANY road up here in north jersey is gonna be a pile of **** at that time, RT80 would be the most DIRECT route, so I figured I'd toss it up there =P That RT78 route sounds nice I might have to try that sometime.

-J

EDIT: Yes I would agree, stay far far away from RT206 IMO...

396LT1SS 08-03-2006 10:15 AM

I;m rollin out of Parsippany @ 5-5:30 if any one wants to meet up we can have our own mini power tour up rt. 80 in traffic :)

enRo 08-03-2006 09:25 PM

Actually, I think I might go, but Im not running the car. Ill only race down the track in cool weather. Ill let this thread know tomorrow haha

its very nice, only traffic you'll hit, if any, is the few miles that you're on 78, but it tends to be clear unless your there between 5 and 6, and even then its only a few miles, as opposed to sitting on 80 from parsippany through rockaway, after sitting on 287 lol. When I was living on campus at Rutgers and had to get to work at Island, 78 is the ONLY way i'll go, its much more enjoyable, 517 is a very nice cruising road.
