Day 3: Exhaust Help

Just putting this up to see if anyone would like to head down here to help me put the exhaust together. I want to see if I can get it all done and maybe get the car up to the trucks tomorrow night.
If so, shoot me an IM or PM.

Tru2Chevy 08-16-2006 09:40 AM

I would Al, if you can come up with a way to get my out of work ASAP.....

- Justin

BonzoHansen 08-16-2006 10:19 AM

Al, you can take the car to work and hang it there, right?

BigAls87Z28 08-16-2006 10:44 AM

I could take it to work...only 2 things
1- Im on vacation and I didnt want ot go to work
2- Id get fired.
I thought about just throwing it up there as best I can, then taking it to work or my brothers work, and then doing a better job there.
1144am, still no sign of the exhaust.

firehawk1120 08-16-2006 11:11 AM

I can bring boon's little hammer with me if that will help you....

Tsar 08-16-2006 11:15 AM

ill do it if i get my car back time any soon and if you dont live to far away  whats so hard about putting on the exhaust?

BigAls87Z28 08-16-2006 11:19 AM

Its not hard, I just figured it would go faster with more then me doing it.
And no thanks...but Ill take a sawzall.

BonzoHansen 08-16-2006 12:24 PM

You'd get fired for working on it at work? F-that, you need a new employer.

bad64chevelle 08-16-2006 12:26 PM

Al how far do you live from Bordentown/Trenton area? I gotta mow the lawn at home and then afterwards I could give you a hand if ya need it.

The downpipes are designed for headers and manifolds, so they are a bit long. Its gunna take a little work to get them to work.

BigAls87Z28 08-16-2006 01:42 PM

Alright, Jon if you want to come, take 195 east, then it turns into 138 (speed changes to 55mph). You will go through 2 lights, and on your right hand side there is the exit for rt 18 north...there is no south. That is where 18 ends.Take 18 north to exit 10a, that will put you on rt 66 east.

From RT66: You will come to a light of a big intersection. Drive through the light, and keep going till you get to the circle. This is the world famous asbury park circle. It is 2 circles in one. When you approach the circle, you will stay to your left. Keep going down till the road is going to split left and right. Stay to your left and you will approach a yield sign. At the yelid sign, you are going to want to now bare to your right, head for Asbury Park. After you bare to your right, you will be on Asbury Ave. Stay on that road and take the 2nd left on Bimbler. You are on that for like 20 sec, then take another left onto Hillcrest. You will be on there for 2 sec, and at that point you should see my house. You will come to a stop sign, take a right and park anywhere on my street.

If anyone is coming down from the Parkway, take parkway south to exit 102 and bare to the right, do not go straight. Stay on that road road for a while. You will then come to a light and merge with traffic coming in from the right. The road you merge on is Rt 66. Take that untill you come to the big intersection. Then follow directions above.
Coming parkway from the south, get off exit 98. That will put you right on 195/138 east-Shore Points. Then follow the directions at the top.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Thanks again to Koll and Jon, and thanks to Ian for getting those super sexy tires on there.

bad64chevelle 08-16-2006 02:28 PM

Leaving now...

BigAls87Z28 08-16-2006 08:42 PM

AWESOMENESS!! Ok, we got the dipstick out, put the headers in, strapped it all together, and I started her up!! BEAUTIFUL!! Im sure my neighbors didnt approve of the open headers, but meh.
I will get a sound clip tomorrow as the space on my phone is gone and I didnt go up and grab my camera for a vid. I will have video and sound tomorrow, it will be bad asstastic. Thank you to Big Jon and Koll for helping me get it done and having a little fun along the way.
I have some custom fabbing to do on the magnaflow, as previously discused above, but that will be done tomorrow, so I expect the exhaust to be mounted on the car by tomorrow night. W00t!!

BonzoHansen 08-16-2006 10:49 PM

Cool. Good deal. Self destruct your info.

bad64chevelle 08-17-2006 08:01 AM

Al I am going to try my hardest to get done with my work at an early time again today so I can maybe head down there to give ya a hand. I will let you know though.

BigAls87Z28 08-17-2006 11:39 AM

Cool man, thanks. Im gunna see if I can get some collector reducers at Pep Boys or somewhere today.

BigAls87Z28 08-17-2006 07:11 PM

Ok so....the Magnaflow set up is a bit more complicated then your average garage tech, like myself, can do. It requires more welding then I thought, and a little more custom fabrication then I thought. So im looking around at shops who might be able to just assemble it for me and ge *** ready for sunday.
BTW...with QQ plates, could I drive around with just open headers? Just a thought..... BTW, video to come very soon.

BigAls87Z28 08-17-2006 08:31 PM

Here is a little video of the open headers...mmm mmmm yeah!

sounds pretty cool.

BigAls87Z28 08-18-2006 08:18 AM

I thought more people would like to hear open headers then just vitals?
