The Big Day (shoot me!)

Today is the big day for me and my coworkers. The big doodies, aka ADP is taking over my company, and I might be out of a job soon. Anyone need a tax consultant? I also can change the oil in your car!

That sucks. I remember when there were talks about our company being bought out. Every day we would show up for work and wonder if the door would be unlocked. We managed to survive and are doing pretty good now. Good luck!

BonzoHansen 08-23-2006 09:05 AM

**** happens, companies officials are only loyal to money. If it happens, you'll pull through. I've been laid off twice, I always made more $$ the next job. Silver linings and all that crap. :)

Be proactive, start looking now!

LuvMyF8LWS6 08-23-2006 09:38 AM

It happened. They eliminated my position, and in an hour I will find out how much longer I have. So far, everyone has had 3 months.

its Jeanne-Marie 08-23-2006 09:54 AM

awwww i'm sorry to hear that

Untamed 08-23-2006 10:02 AM

Oh wow, sorry to hear that. Monster.com!!!

Now might also be a good time to consider finding a job outside of NJ. I'm currently doing that as well since this state is just too damn expensive to live in.

My last day is Dec 29.

I really can't move out of New Jersey. I have a terminally disabled father who I support. I don't have many choices but to start looking now to go somewhere else.

Sorry to hear that. Best of luck in your search for a new job!

Sorry to hear, I know where your comin from. I was laid off in May from a job I was at for over 5 years. While it does suck, theres nothing left to do but look at the positive side if things. Now you have no choice but to move on and hopefully to a better job!

baddest434 08-23-2006 03:00 PM

that blows dudette. good luck on your hunt for a new job.

i can see three very popular silver linings to this:

1. you have plenty of time to look for a new job, so there is no need to panic or jump into the first job offered to you.
2. when i got layed off i ended up making more at my next job because experience usually pays better than time served
3. this is the best one, based on your end date i would say you can go out and have one hell of a new years eve. tell the new job you are available january 3rd and roll into the new year with style.

That's the first thing I thought of. Well, combined with being able to afford Christmas, rather than being laid off with no chance to save for the gifts.

Ask them to lay you off 1 week prior to that, and your holiday week ownz everything.

The "Boss Man" is helping me out with a new job in the mortgage world. I think I'll leave "that" pic alone for now!

IROCZman15 08-27-2006 07:54 PM

LuvMyF8LWS6 08-29-2006 10:00 AM

Jeff is referring to a picture that was on my myspace page... My Mustang club found it, and yeah..... It's a good shot of me though lol

BigAls87Z28 08-29-2006 10:05 AM

I dont know how great it would be to put a picture of Denis in your resume, but whatever, maybe he has some major pull in some company?
Anyway, good luck! You have a lot of time to figure out what needs to be done, at least they didnt tell you to pack up your stuff and goodbye in a day.
