Camaro only the beginning for GM
By Jim Mateja Chicago Tribune August 27, 2006 CHICAGO -- The Chevy Camaro isn't the only new car coming from General Motors in the next couple years. The Camaro reportedly will be joined by the Pontiac G8, a companion to the next-generation GTO due for 2009, as well as high-performance Chevy Impala and Buick sedans. Why is it if the Impala switched to RWD, they will do away with the Monte as that article suggests? I, for one, would really like one of the new Monte SS's IF they were RWD. If they kill the Monte as opposed to switching it to RWD I'll be :(

No monte, they wont have 2 coupes in the same market under the same brand in the same price range. There might be a 2dr copue based off Epsilon.
|
Yeah, it wouldn't make sense for them to keep the Monte Carlo. There is a lot more selling potential with the Impala for Chevy than the Monte. Plus, with the Camaro back in the mix, you have your V6 and V8 rear-drive coupes right there.

Wait, I thought the G8 was the Grand Prix replacement, not the new GTO, so to speak? It might be an 8Cyl, however the GP and GTO cater to two different markets.
Or is this Pontiac being stupid again? |

Yeah, G8 is going to replace the Grand Prix, which I think is stupid. Pontiac really needs to quit killing their heritage with these dumb G# names.

Thank god. The newer Monte Carlos look like a steaming pile of ****.

The future looks kinda bright...
