Does anybody actually mow their own lawn anymore?

Just wondering if any of you guys actually mow your own lawn or your parents lawn if you live at home. All I see in my neighborhood are lawn service trucks. I've been mowing for 27 years and I still actually use a small push mower. I started cutting the lawn for my parents back when I was 13 and I still did it until I bought my own house and moved out. I don't see any kids cutting grass anywhere in my area. I just can't see paying somebody to do something I can easily do but it surprises me that people with teenagers don't have their kids do it for them instead of paying a service. So who actually mows their own lawn?

Ever since my dad messed up and put the mixed gas/oil into the lawnmower instead of straight gas, nobody really does unless he goes and borrows a neghbors mower

I remember having to mow mine the last weekend in Nov last year and then the first weekend in Dec we had snow! So I think we still have a few more mows to go.

WayFast84 10-14-2006 07:00 PM

i cut mine, I was thinking the same thing 3 days ago, when the landscapers where across the street at like 8..

V 10-14-2006 07:02 PM

oh, and i used to be a landscaper

quasar34 10-14-2006 07:03 PM

i mow my lawn for the parents, but im probably the ONLY house on my block that doesnt hire people to do it for them..

Me and my dad switch off. We have 6 acres to mow, and taking turns helps.

camaro2you 10-14-2006 07:25 PM

baddest434 10-14-2006 07:45 PM

i stoned my front yard with 2-4 inch delaware river bed rock. i had more weeds than grass when i had a lawn. but i cut my own in the back yard. there must be 15 landscapers that live in my neighborhood.

Untamed 10-14-2006 07:54 PM

Mow my own. Still using the same Honda push mower I bought when we bouhgt the house over 8 years ago. *shrugs* Just takes an hour for a quarter acre lot so not a long time.

I do the trimming, edging (with edging shovel) and weed whacking as well. *shrugs* Good exercise and gets me some sun (farmers tan anyone?)

I do and will always because I can't fathom when a capable person or (persons) that live in a house hire someone else to do it....I am also always busy but still find time to get it done before someone uses that line...

foff667 10-14-2006 09:05 PM

the cord on my mower broke so eventually I'll probably be calling on Matt to help me swap in the new one there  but yes I mow my own.

Brando56894 10-14-2006 09:09 PM
