then think about something tame & under 230 duration especially if an auto...if an auto you'll also need a converter in almost any case.

qwikz28 10-24-2006 09:47 AM

his car is a manual. theres a nice TR228 cam that i always thought had nice specs.

oh one ls1 SS 10-24-2006 08:23 PM

TR224/224-114 Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft - 224/224 .563/.563 114 LSA 1700-6600 RPM Power Band. Excellent mid-range & high RPM power.

is that a good cam for those heads? also is there anything else that i could upgrade/change is swaping the heads n cam out?

NJSPEEDER 10-24-2006 08:28 PM

just put an STS turbo kit on it, have foff tune it and enjoy. :)
turbo boost means you get all the performance without having to sacrifice any drivability or gas mileage. it is the best of both worlds. it will also leave you with plenty of room to grow because you will still benefit from all of the other common bolt on upgrades. :)

oh one ls1 SS 10-24-2006 08:37 PM

haha..ide love to get the twin turbo set up i saw on a white TA but yea.. it was like 15K. i dont know if i like the rear mount turbo to cuz ide want to have the rumble and i couldnt be able to fave it cuz ide need to close up my exhaust... decisions decisions

not twin turbo. just a single. and its 4k http://ststurbo.com/ls1

oh one ls1 SS 10-24-2006 09:06 PM

i saw a twin turbo set up on a TA once.. front mount turbos. i tryed to find the video but couldnt. i dont really like the set up of the sts because ide be afraid that if i hit a pothole or speedbump i'll take it off and say bye bye to 4K.

NJSPEEDER 10-24-2006 09:16 PM

for you to hit a hole or anything else that is large/high enough to take the turbo off, you will have also removed half your floor pan, your rear, rocker panels, back bumper beam and cover, and anything else you can think of.
the turbo actually sits higher than the stock muffler location jsut in front of the hatch well.

oh one ls1 SS 10-24-2006 09:32 PM

didnt someone on this board have it and blew the oil feed/return line and fried the turbo? i think his name was JR.. not sure

Tsar 10-24-2006 09:49 PM

RJ.

qwikz28 10-24-2006 11:43 PM

turbos are expensive. i personally like the kit by gmrspeed.com but whatever works for you. talk to foff, he knows his **** about ls1s

Squirrel 10-25-2006 12:02 AM

arent cam only cars hittin 450 or so to the wheels?

JL8Jeff 10-25-2006 07:28 AM

What's a warranty? Is that something these modern cars have? ;)

If you go with heads/cam now it will be easier if you decide later to go with forced induction. If you go with forced induction now and then decide to go heads/cam later it will be extra work.

alot! i wish you could see my garage... im currently gathering parts for my own h/c swap and it conveniently ran well over budget. might wanna talk to charlie at sick speed (^new sponsor) a little far from here but he has pretty decent pricing

oh one ls1 SS 10-25-2006 09:38 AM

humm.. kinda far but ill PM them in a bit just to get estimates on prices

VERY NOT STREETABLE cams notched pistons, etc and even then they are few & far between...fwiw a good medium range cam should be able to get you to low 12's at full weight or high 11's with some weight removal with a decent combo of gears/traction in an m6 car and 370-400 to the wheels with a good tune and supporting bolt ons...im not gonna use ricer math but there are some important must have parts to get good #'s...LS6 intake & headers being the main ones, but it all adds up in the end. I think Ali on here made like 370 to the wheels with JUST bolt ons so you can make good numbers even going that way...if you want a little lope I would say go with a 224 to a 230 duration cam on a 113 LSA you should be able to get good drivability, not horrible gas mileage & good numbers.
