4th gens are known for their bad window motors. That's what I think it is in this case.

You can get a replacement at your local parts house. They burn out after a little while.

Not hard nor time intensive. What's funny as that they (Siemens IIRC) are on their third revision of this particular window motor...

The express down unit it located by the fuse box, that is probably what you hear. Sound like the window motor went bad, was is going up/down slowly before? Real common on our cars.

ahh window motors suck...

qwikz28 10-30-2006 02:33 PM

it was working just fine before it stopped working. i dont even hear the motor giving any effort. i did the passenger side window motor in the spring, but this didnt go out the same way. this one worked perfect before hand and now just isnt working.

ps- the passenger side did this as well last year, but eventually resumed function one morning.

my motor gave out without any notice, it just stuck in half way open position one day....

qwikz28 10-30-2006 02:45 PM

so how am i supposed to get to the motor if my window is stuck down?

motor is directly rivited in to the inside of the door and the window is behind it. so it doesnt get on the way. at leastthats how i remember it.

here's step by step.

If I hit both buttons at the same time, my drivers side stops and then works very slowly, or not even at all.

wanna change motors together?
