window lock and better sealing?
Does any one know of some good window locks preferably with a key for a typical room window? I know of some good window locks, but they are for a storm room type..
also How should I go about sealing a window better? Its really cold, and Its probably gonna kill the heating bills... thanks |
Depending on how ghetto you want to get you can put plastic over the window, but a good thick set of curtains will work wonders. Or cut a piece of foam to fit the window and pop it in on really cold days.

Home Depot has a whole isle on this topic.

theres one product out there which is a large sheet of plastic. you use double stick tape to attache it over the whole window frame and then you use a hair dryer to shrink it so it becomes tight and you cut off the excess. If you have no need to open the window, id suggest this. i used it on my bedroom winodw once since my bed is right next to it, and it helped alot

teh easiest way to keep a window locked is to drill a small hole on each side of the frame, just above where the window rests when closed. then simply get a pice of dowel or metal rod, cut a few inch long piece for each side and stick it in the hole.
other than that a common window lock is all that there really is without installing an alarm system. |

I say just silicone it shut for the winter. If you want a lock take a nice sized self tapper and a drill and self tap that biotch shut. All thw window's at my bros house were like this when we bought it. The house is 200+ yrs. old so it didnt matter. LOL
