02 2500 Cummings. kid messed with the entire motor, now pushes as much hp as a peterbilt 379 american class tractor.

chevyt454 01-01-2007 03:55 PM

Seems everyone had a diesel towing their muscle cars down at Ocean City, Maryland.

What is with the smoke (see DKYA4S avatar)? Is that a sign of performance? Or is it just a showoff thing?

NJSPEEDER 01-01-2007 06:06 PM

it was explained to me that having a bunch of excess fuel in a diesel isn't really a big problem for performance. so basically they just run them pig rich and see if they can stuff enough boost in to compensate. lol

But that much smoke - that can't be running well, can it? I thought maybe that was the equivalent of a flame thrower car buring raw gas out the tailpipe.

NJSPEEDER 01-01-2007 06:12 PM

phil, dieselkickyoassfosho, is in college for high end diesel technology stuff. he said that it only hurts performance very little.
makes ya wish gas engines were that forgiving about A/F ratios doesn't it. lol

johnjzjz 01-01-2007 06:19 PM

diesels have no intake vacume NONE so their is no real A/F mix untill compression the more you get in the more power very little loss that is the way it was x plained to me anyway -- jz
