Super chargers

I was possibly thinking about going to some junk yards to try and find a super charger for the bonneville anybody have any ideas of were i might find oen and about the price range you think it will go for?

bad64chevelle 01-11-2007 12:12 PM

there was a bonneville SSEI or whatever at Friendship junkyard down by me...if you want directions, or want to take a ride, ill go. just let me know.

Eh- be careful. The bearings could be close to shot if the S/C oil was never changed. Before you buy one spin the pulley and feel for clunking. Are you planning on rebuilding it?

bad64chevelle 01-11-2007 12:45 PM

I bet most owners change their s/c oil as often as they change their blinker fluid.

njfastestcamaro 01-11-2007 01:10 PM

blinker fluid i change that every other day along with the mufler bearing and the dingle bury nut but my car still so ****ing make nosie

Considering it isn't in the maintenance schedule, I'd have to agree.

youd need more than just the S/C to swap it on. youd be better off buying a complete supercharged L67 motor and swapping it in

DieselKickYoAss4Sure 01-11-2007 05:43 PM

nah it aint factory i was just pndering the idea! and i planed on rebuilding the SC

DieselKickYoAss4Sure 01-11-2007 05:50 PM

oh and i was jsut wondering what would be this hoast of problems i am going to encounter i havent looked into this too deeply!

GP99GT 01-11-2007 06:00 PM

youd need a new lower intake manifold, throttle body, possibly heads, various sensors that the N/A motor doesnt have, your trans is probably too weak to handle it (s/c'd cars got a trans with a beefed up diff and input shaft)

Firebird67dude 01-11-2007 06:20 PM

I bought a whole S/C kit for the MR2 just incase. It includes sc to in tercooler and all the pipes along with the Air bypass valve that the 2 doesnt have anymore. It was cheap. The sc is ion awesome shape too. I love ebay.

And you can only run a 3.8" pulley at best.

For those of you with Cadillacs and "spinnas", don't forget to tighten your chin nuts.
