They are stainless, that ups the $$. I've seen lots worse.

Atleast you don't have the corvette tax to deal with :(
|
That ain't a bad price for stainless L/T headers.

Ummmm heads aren't made of Stainless.........Good thing about that is unless you damage them it will be the last set you ever need. And a good set of NEW heads will be alot more then $1000.00

Hey WF, you won't spend $1000 on quality headers, but you want to buy a rotted out mess of a firebird for $500?? You could have this for a few bucks more... http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/car/268941803.html |

Steel/Aluminized Headers/Y-pipe wont last as long as Stainless steel, anytime. So instead of buying 2 or 3 sets of steelies cuz they rotted out, mind as well shed out the $1000+ for stainless steel and be happy for a LONG TIME cuz thats how long they will last u. |
well ima with wayfast on this one i wouldnt buy them neather...

My lemons headers were $3,500 i wish I could have gotten away with a grand but you get what you pay for, you want to buy ****, buy some cheap ass 1,000 headers
|
ok now 3500 is a little crazy.
|
:stupid:
|
How much would you pay for custom stainless headers with split flanges, collectors and EGT? and where would you buy them?
http://www.lemonsheaders.com/products/camnovassbb.htm |
Not a nickle over $3400. But I am cheap. :)
Hey, ATS wants $2000 for their SS headers for 1st gen LS conversion headers. They are pretty and all, and I might use their mounts, but for a street car, um, my pockets are not that deep. |
the problem probably lies with tooling, I could not buy off their off the shelf BB headers as they were designed for camaros with standard frames, of course the tubular frames I have do offer more clearance than stock frame rails but because stock clearance from pan to ground is about what 8" and I have 4" thay had to custome bend a set which tucked up under teh firewall for teh collectors to have proper clearance, and I still scuffed them up when the front wheels come back on teh ground, this was corrected with bigger snubbers on the lower control arms, I agree that off teh shelf sets should not cost more than $1500, I use Kooks on my street car and they were about that much, but it is not unheard of to pay a good price for custom tubes when the need arises
|
$1500 is where I'd tap out and make my own instead. It's taxing but certainly not impossible.
The thing about headers is that most people have no trouble dropping extra cash if it means they fit well and last. Most cheapie headers fit like hell and rot out. Even Jet-Hot coated headers won't last forever if they are driven during winter (salt on the roads). |
Ive yet to see a pair of Jet hots on a street car last more than a year or two without showing some form of corrosion, thats why I am a fan of stainless
