how hard to convert to A4 from M6?
im getting sick and tired of replacing T56's and clutches. i figure ive spent 3000+ between 2 transmissions and the clutches and all of the aggravation that follows.
How hard would it be to convert to A4? I know i would want to get a nice sized stall, 3200+rpm, a flexplate, and center console. would i need anything else? driveshafts should be the same size i would think |

thanks for the link. that looks to be a major PITA and alot of work to convert all of that crap over... im gonna think about this one while i dont have 3rd and 4th gear anymore

with they way you drive you may be better off going th400 or if you have to have od then look into a 4l80e.. On second thought you might be better off with an Allison with your right foot!

you make a valid point, however my budget did not include a new trans this early in the year!!! ill think of something 8-) |
I know that feeling. After 4 clutches and 3 trans in 3 years I gave up on the T56. My A4 has performed flawlessly thus far. The swap was pretty easy, took me a day and a half (about 13 hours of actual work)to do it (minus time waiting fo rparts I was missing). If you decide you want to do ti let me know, I may be able to come down and help. There are also alot of "Shortcuts" you could take, I went as close to factory as I could. If anybody saw it at the NATS I would be surprised if you could even tell it was an M6. The biggest PITA was making the panel for the floor shifter hole. also make sure you get the right year harness! I found out the hard way that 00-02 ARE NOT THE SAME! The rest is easy. I also think the total cost without the trans/converter was about $500.00, although I got alot of parts off Ebay.

That is a nice write up on LS1. I will be converting this LS1/T56 setup I have to an A4 setup when it goes into the 67. Now I have some idea what is involved.

In a 67 it would be even easier, I would go with a non computer controlled trans.
