i always had a thing for old VW's, no idea why, but you wanna see some sick stuff, check out dahlback racing... 5 cylinder turbo audi motors pumping out between 600 and 900 hp

Something is just sexy about a 20v 5 cylinder turbo, going from 227 to 290 HP with a chip and being able to build up to 500 RELIABLY mmmmmm

BonzoHansen 02-18-2007 06:40 AM

Oh snap!

my buddy has a APR MK4 1.8t GTI and that thing is plenty fast. APR advertises their turbo kits to hit about 300whp which is excellent for what it is and most customers make mid to high 13 second passes with full weight apr 1.8ts... vr6s are one of the best sounding motors too. i think the one thing that kills me is the front wheel drive. maybe one day R32s will be cheap?

Don't do it! VW's are 50/50 chance of getting a good one/bad one. Although most of the people I know got a bad one. Only 1 person I know appears to have gotten a good one and I don't even trust what he says since he would never admit it was a problem car. His Passat left him stranded once and he was the only person to get a good VW. :-? One guy I work with finally got his Jetta taken back by the dealer under the lemon law, another guy has had his Passat wagon in the shop tons of times, my older brother's VW was a total POS that he lost a ton of money on in the end. If your first car held up, then you've already had your 50% chance of a good car.

ryanfx 02-18-2007 10:53 AM

Eric, speed density owns you. Just because you're first car was a PoS.. I mean VW doesn't mean all your others cars have to be as well! You're going to miss the rumble, you're going to miss the obnoxiously long doors, you're going to miss the gaudy fog lights, but most of all you are going to miss the trunk hatch that never opens right!
