What's the TOP SPEED you have been in your car?

What is the fastest you have been in your car? Name which car, and mods.

Fast92RS 03-04-2007 08:09 AM

I did 100 in my avalanche and then it hit the speed limiter and I did 110 in my Camaro once.

V 03-04-2007 08:11 AM

as for me, it turns out all my top speeds were done while on a closed course with all safety regulations and authority approved...

'01 SS, 147, catback & lid
'95 Caddy STS, 150, catback
'03 Ninja, 140, piped

going fast is fun and all, but very dangerous. This is why I am very interested in the possible land speed event idea in the works. And eventually i will get my SS to break 200, even if i need to visit the salt flats.

WayFast84 03-04-2007 08:11 AM

85+ idk my speedo only goes up to 85

84 firebird 305 dynomax catback

Agreed doing it the safe/legal way would be MUCH prefferred over the other way. Which closed coarse did you go to? Is there one around here?

JerzLT1 03-04-2007 08:13 AM

interesting question -- on the street 80 MPH has the same feeling to me as going 150 in a race car -- the difference is no one on the track is pulling out in front of you -- jz

Jersey_TA 03-04-2007 08:27 AM

150 in the T/A when i was justt bolt-ons.
137 in the vette stock

EchoMirage 03-04-2007 08:42 AM

130ish in my TA with just a filter. i know i had way more in her, but ran out of road. havent had the time or place to try faster. i lost my license once already.....

alexm 03-04-2007 08:48 AM

not had the camaro long think its around 100

old cars/motorcycles

tt supra 160
yamaha R1 175
celica gt4 145
hayabusa turbo i stopped watching speedo at 180 but there was still a mile of straight and i didnt back off for a couple of seconds.

all while i lived in scotland where the only thing to hit is a sheep dont see the point of going mad fast here too many people to move into your way much prefer to keep it at the track

Batman 03-04-2007 09:20 AM

171 according to a plug in computer.

baddest434 03-04-2007 09:25 AM

148 mph but only on the 1320. its not a street car or else i'd probally go faster

SupermanX24 03-04-2007 09:30 AM

160 in my mom's Audi A6
140 in my formula
and 115 in my 3.4 Camaro

Knipps 03-04-2007 09:45 AM

124 in my 3.4
119 in the caprice

had more in both of them but ran out of room

GP99GT 03-04-2007 09:54 AM

120ish in my mustang cause i dont have 5th gear. that was 5500rpm in 4th.

in the GP, i hit like 130, but im not really sure how fast it was cause the speedo stops at 115...the needle was buried in the dash

bad64chevelle 03-04-2007 09:58 AM

Jeep- prolly 100ish speedo only went to 85
Camaro-149 (never again)
Ram-100
Chevelle- Dunno, the speedo always says "0" but id say 120 (4.10s + Th350)

theres a site out there somewhere that you can put your gear ratios, rear diff ratio, and tire size in and itll tell you what speed youre going at whichever RPM you input...google 'top speed calculator'

maroman88 03-04-2007 10:41 AM

my moms old 92 Lumina Euro 3.4....130ish with the needle burried while racing an IROC with 4 people in the car
my 88 camaro....120 with the speedo ending at 115

www.f-body.org/gears there ya go :)

I needed to use that table to find my speed. Lid, catback, freemods and a new clutch i was running 5700rpm in 5th which came out to be 172mph! the t/a still felt stable too

Sorry. I must have posted it seconds after 98tadriver did :)

Iroc-z86 03-04-2007 10:48 AM

112 in my 3.1 cavalier (speed limiter kicked in, would have been good to 130)
140 in my old 83 z28

havent tested the iroc, although should be about the same cause its the same engine/trans as the z.
