Carb or TBI?
The almighty question has come down to the many people here for the best answer...
I have the 85 Camaro... 350 bored .030.. 10.1:1 compression... Edelbrock 750 cfm MEch Secondaries, weiand accel manifold ingle plane.. Upgraded HEI igniton, headers, no cat, flowmaster muffler, 58cc 305 HO heads, Comp cams .507/.510 281 duration, Stock 700r4/stock convertor The question comes down to... Do I keep the goin this way as a carb? or switch over the throttle body to make the car a decent daily driver?? And if carb is the better way... where would you get the carb tuned or a new set of metering rods?? |
carb

if you just want it as a daily driver, ditch the mech. secondary carb for a vac. secondary carb

ditch the whole Edelbrock idea and get a demon or holley
|
Carb is certainly easier to install, with fewer headaches to deal with during maintenance. Plus no need for an ECM if you keep everything mechanical / vacuum, as opposed to electronic.

That said, they are awesome carbs once they are set up :D |
def go carb my truck is tbi and its a real bit... to setup if i had to do it again id go carb
|
the hell with carb TPI all the way
|
TPI is a waste of money. parts are too expensive and don't deliver enough to justify paying it.

another vote for carb...holley or q-jet..defintaly vac secondary..tuning, somthing custom, parts, or rebuilds- steve's carb shop in lyndhurst..i have been using him for 3 years and had nothing but great results..
first with my stock q-jet, then the q-jet on my plow truck, then the holley i switched to for the new 350 in the car..just awesome |
