You have an OBD1 vehicle with an OBD2 style connector...all '95s got this setup and you need a specific cable to do tuning/diagnostics for your car

1 96 up 2

hmm.... will autozone be able to diagnose it ?

j0n 03-23-2007 11:07 PM

negative...Autozone can pull codes for OBD2(96+) ONLY

hmmm.... i went to advanced auto and told t hem about this and they said that the system they ordered and are waiting on to come in will be able to do it... hopefully this is right because the service engine light is going on and off as well as my low oil light... my oil level is fine... could my computer be going?

bubba428 03-25-2007 02:50 PM

He doesn't know what he's talking about, they can only scan OBD2 vehicles. You need to find someone with a tech 2 scanner to have the codes pulled and find out what the problem is. As for the low oil light the "low oil sensor" is extremely easy to replace(large plastic nut-looking thin on the side of the oil pan. It's not too expensive either iirc.

jacknut? go build your OMG30209123RWHPTURBOV66666OMG bulls**t and stay out of threads that require an iq above 7

Out of the 4 advance auto parts I went to all had OBD2 scanners only. They all plugged in and appeared operational but did not find any codes when the SES light was lit. I then went to my mechanic and with his tech 2 scanner the codes showed up right away

bubba428 03-25-2007 03:46 PM

thats because 90% of advance auto employees don't know how to use the scanner

bobb1589 03-25-2007 05:05 PM

is it the oil sensor thats bad though? should i just replace it to see if it goes off?

It sounds like it. Like I said it's cheap and easy to replace and won't hurt the car
