Tire Sizes (IMPORTANT, PLEASE ADVISE!)
 

The factory setup - 2001 Camaro SS. 17x9 275/40 ZR17 all the way around.

I want to know if i can clear 295/35 tires. I have 18x10.5 rims i ordered and the tire guy is sayin the tires wont fit (it will rub). I have seen 315's on SS's on a website (tho they had to flair out the wheel-well). In my mind if 315's will fit with some minor work, then 295's should fit fine. It is only 20mm's wider then what i came with stock.

I need to know for sure, no "it should" or "i don't think you will have an issue". Does anyone know FOR SURE if i can clear 295/35 ZR18 on a 10.5" rim for my rear setup???

They guy told me 275's will sit flush on an 10.5" rim. And i kno the rim will fit b/c the offset is made for the Camaro (Z06 replica wheels). But i went wider on the rim for a reason.

PLEASE ADVISE ASAP as i need to order the tires soon to get a deal on them.

it never seems to be a sure fit... at stock height most people dont have a problem... some do have some rubbing on the inner fenderwheel/bumpstop and if you do have a problem you just beat where its rubbing with a mallet and trim the bumpstop... or you can get an adj pan hard bar

... short answer is you probably wont have a problem if you do its an easy fix


also i wouldnt ever run 275's on a 10.5 inch rim the smallest your supposed to run is a 285 and even that is giving you no protection for you rim + looking to narrow

I would think it would be very dependent on backspacing. That 18 is a hair taller, tops 1/2". Allowable rim width is 10"-12".

Exact sizes:
Front - 17x9.5 inch
Rear - 18x10.5 inch, 5x4.75 inch 56mm\58mm
*I'm guessing it means: 56mm offset in front and 58mm offset in rear. and 5x4.75" bolt pattern in general?)

So, am i ok? I see alot of ppl on other forums that have 295/35 in the back (with American Racing Torque Thrust wheels), and they said no rubbing.

Are you lowered? If you are you might need to roll fenders at an extreme case.
It seems that every car is different when it comes to large width wheels you may have to take a hammer to your inner fenders to make clearance. But before you do anything, mount the wheels. Put a pair of jackstands under the rear because you might end up taking the wheels on and off for test fitting.

Theres tons of write ups on LS1tech about the "BFH" mod. I'm running 17x11's with a 315 on some decent lowering springs and I only encounter problems when I hit big bumps. My next combo is 18x10.5 with a 315 rear tire and just the wheels without the tires they didn't have any clearance issues.

as long as you are not lowered/sagging suspension it will fit. Becareful with goodyear tires though they run alot fatter then most.

Nope, not lowered at all and don't plan on doin it. and the tires are not goodyear or bf goodrich (not usre exact brand that he can get me, but he assured me they r not a "wall-mart special"). I mean if you running a .5" larger rim then i am and 315's and you have really no issue i should be fine.

It is just weird how some ppl have issues and some dont. And i never really understood "offset" or "backspacing". One of the main reason why i choose this rims was b/c they were designed for the Camaro.

So, you have all the info (specs, sizes, setup, ect). What do you guys think? You think i will be ok?

Nevermind you guys, sorry for wasting everyones time...the rims...don't fit NONE OF THEM.

I installed my rear shocks today; which was the easiest thing i have ever done. I think fixing my floor jack was harder then the shocks. Anyways, just for sh*ts and giggles i firgured i might as well test fit the rims. Well, the rear ones (18x10.5) dont even come close to fitting. and the front ones (17x9.5) don't fit either.

I dunno, but when the description says the rims WILL FIT 93-02 Camaro who am i to say they wont? Note to seller: JUST BECAUSE THE BOLT PATTERN WILL FIT, DOESN'T MEAN THE RIM DOES!!!!!

So now i have to send these b*tches back and get the others ones. I think im just goin to stick with 17's and my stock tire size.

What part of them doesn't fit?

Can you elaborate on this? I have a set of Z06 wheels in my basement (same size as yours) that I was thinking about putting on my '93 (originally they were for my '81).

the 18x10.5's wouldn't sit flush on the rotor b/c it was hitting my bump stop, it wasn't even close. the 17x9.5's sat a little better, tho they still hit the damn bump stop.

i didn't want to have to mess around with spacers, and adjustable panhard bar, and i don't think a 3lb sledge hammer belongs ANYWHERE near a car, let alone used as a tool to work on one (unless ur a deranged ex g/f), so beating in my wheel well didn't seem like a good idea.

besides, even if i got them to fit (which i prob would have it i wanted to use the options mentioned above) i would be working with tight tolerances...which opens up doors for other issues with tires rubbing (don't want to flair out my wheel well). and i also red a forum on another site about different rim sizes front to back can mess up or ABS (ABS INOP light pops on) and ur ASR as highway speeds (i dont want to be one with a tree b/c my traction control came on at 80 mph). basically i didn't want to open up "Pandoria's Box". i shipped them back for a set of 17x8.5 all the way around and they should be ok.

If a 17 x 9.5" wheel was hitting the bump stop, then it sounds like you got the wrong wheels shipped to you. That size wheel came from the factory on a large number of these cars, and it should fit with no trouble at all.

are you sure ur not thinking of 17x9's? that is what mine has on it stock (17x9's all the way around) i never heard of stock 17x9.5. but maybe im the one who is mistaken.

i have the 18 x10.5 with 295/35/18 on the rear and they fit fine ...they are alos z06 rims

Lt1 rims and LS1 rims have a different offset, 17x10 is as wide as you can go without moding the body or suspension to make it fit. (roll the lip or bang out the wheel well)

WHOO HOOO!!! my rims came (back) in! and i test fitted them and they fit great! i get my tires on Sat morning. Pics will follow!

The stock wheels on the LT1 and LS1 cars have identical widths and offsets.... 16x8 55mm on the base V8 models, and 17x9 50mm on the WS6 and SS.
