Block Work?

Does anybody know of any shops in the area that bore blocks. I want to go .060 over and I need a good shop

Why do you want to go .60 over?

bubba428 03-24-2007 07:16 AM

why ask why...i'm rebuilding the engine in my car and want to have it machined why its out...if i go .060 it'll make it a 212ci or 3.5l block...but i might have to do .040 cause i can't find .060 oversised pistons for it

I would only bore it out as much as it needs to clean it up. Boring it out more for a few extra cubes isn't worth the weaker cylinder walls you're getting from it, and it's also eliminating the chance of boring it again if you need to in the future....

Yeah, exactly. Don't bore it any more than you need to. Just clean it up.

well i'm gonna go 040 cause i cant find pistons any bigger

Blacdout96 03-26-2007 07:13 PM

wel the reason for that is all the motor rebuilding ompanies use those, so either stick wiht stock or go with those, you wont see much of an improvement.

bubba428 03-26-2007 07:23 PM

you'd be suprised...just that little bit opens up fuel system options, so while by it self it won't help, the bigger injectors will it widen the torque band with the cam i'm using

IROCdan330 03-26-2007 07:42 PM

where do you get your information from?

bubba428 03-26-2007 07:55 PM

the 3.4 isn't really 3.4l...its 3.35054 and so on...BUT every thing is calibrated to 3.4 if i go .040 it would be accualy 3.405 and so on...so now the computer will be more accurate and when i do my caculation for fuel consuption to get injectors i'll be able to get the perfect one..also the cam figures will yeild more hp being that the figures are for a 3.4...not a 3.35 rounded up to 3.4

IROCdan330 03-26-2007 07:58 PM

oh wow...

bubba428 03-26-2007 08:03 PM

yea thats what i've been doing for 2 months trying to get eveything strait. so i can do it right the first time. i think i'm gonna need 25 lb injectors and an ajustible FPR to balance it... i'm also using megasquirt on it so i want to be hyper analy accurate with my programing numbers
