ANYONE KNOW IF THE TBI....
hey guys, does anyone know if the tbi from the early 90's have adjustable fuel regulators. i believe my formula is running a little lean. she backfires through the tbi. any ideas. i bought it from so dude in central jersey. the cat is cut off and open. i dont think its back pressure causeing the problem. thanks in advance for any help...

Can't you tune the amount of fuel at the ECM? I have a TBI (from an 88 TA) and don't recall seeing an adjustable fuel regulator. Dunno about the 90's though.

they are not adjustable from the factory but they can be made adjustable... there is a tac weld that holds a screw in place in the FPR

i guess you bought the car i was gonna look at... that guy send you that pic in your sig?
EDIT: If you ever have any questions about TBI, just shoot me a PM. I'm dont have any experience with modded TBI's. ha ;) |
you can easily make the factory regulator adjustable. unless there are some other major components added to the engine there is no real reason it should lean out at factory pressure and it is extremely unlikely that th open y-pipe would have anything to do with it.
hit me up on AIM. i still have a bunch of TBI stuff sitting around here and i prolly have a regulator i can rig up for ya. |
hey derek. no i found the car on craigslist and bought it. got it for 400.00. the pic is the car as it was posted on craigslist. excellent deal. the problem i found is the the guy who changed the motor in it, left the 305 chip. so its running lean. im trying to locate a caprice or impala chip. then ill see if i can get someone to delete the auto trans. so i can run with the 5 speed. thanks for the tip.
