oh thats good to know.... i have the red

Jersey_TA 05-06-2007 03:25 PM

I used the red stuff and have had no problems taking them off. 8)

Ofcourse you're not going to be able to take them off with a 1/4 drive or anything lol(just an example)

NJSPEEDER 05-06-2007 03:27 PM

one thing you shoudl do is upgrade to new grade8 bolts and nuts. you can set them to a higher torque level which will help prevent them loosening.

Silent Z 05-06-2007 03:33 PM

Did you guys buy them both new? If so how much do they run?

j0n 05-06-2007 03:44 PM

Texas-speed is running a special iirc for ~$2000 + shipping

Damn Am I jealous... I ran out of funds, and am stuck with my iddie bidd 10 bolt...... Someday I am going 12 bolt or 9".... for now.. lets see how much torture a 10bolt can take... I will keep all informed of my research and development of a 10 bolt versus a big block and some nitrous.... in a heavy all car!!!!

98tadriver 05-06-2007 05:18 PM

heres the end result of my bolt on t/a when i was making 338/ 366 to the wheels on a 10 bolt, and street tires! http://thumbs.vidiac.com/82fe6557-b3...bbf7c8924a.jpgClick here to see Video

Different 10 bolts.

His is a 7.5, yours (if you mean the 2nd gen) is a 8.5. Properly built the 8.5 is pretty good. Kurt Urban runs one and he is in the low 9's,

i got mine used from a older gentleman in upstate NY, it has about 1k miles on it and comes with a steel, and aluminum driveshaft each with the correct yoke for 1900.

98tadriver 05-06-2007 11:04 PM

ran into some problems with the install, but should have it done this tuesday fo sho

I paid 2000 for mine, i think, plus im getting a LPE HD aluminum DS with it!

i think im gonna use red loctite on it and see where that gets me. if it becomes loose after that, safety wire ftmfw!

The car is being built to run the 8.50 index at atco... I should with the proper tune be capable of well lets just say a lil bit more if it hooks... and I don't kick this rear clean out the back of her..........

Two or Three Hits of nitrous I haven't decided yet... all depends on the pckets.:drive: :drive:

Newest underside I got today... Car should be done this week.. and its time to put the pieces back together......

Savage_Messiah 05-06-2007 11:29 PM

Why not 4.10s??

bubba428 05-07-2007 08:26 AM

i think this one should make it past the nitrous.....

BonzoHansen 05-07-2007 08:49 AM

I don’t remember the exact mounting setup, so this advice may be no good, but if those are bolts & nuts, do GR8 bolts and nuts – and use the nuts with the nylon lock ring in them.

i believe ron was hitting rev limiter (i think he raised it from stock) in 4th just before crossing the traps when he was running 4.10s...

no way... in 4th gear with 4.10s and 26" tires you will be going 123mph at 6500rpm. there is no way ron is trapping that high with bolt-ons. (no offense ron)
